I came up with another way to add a Rotopax container, when I don't have the Apache top box installed. A Rotopax Single Mounting Plate, and two M6 shoulder bolts mounted in the inboard mounting points, already on the rack.

It's very sturdy with just the two bolts, but my OCD wants me to drill and tap a 6mm hole at the top, to add one more.
🙄
The 2 gallon water pack fits perfectly with room to use straps fore and aft. It doesn't interfere with the side mount container.

The camping gear bag sits nicely on the container, and not too high.

Looks loge a great set up, Why not drill the mounting plate and use the other two threaded holes in the rack?

I knew you had a reason, and of course now I see the other holes. :D

I finally got the driving lights and SAE plug installed. There is no room to do anything fancy, so I cut up an SAE plug I had around and made an extension. I wired up the Denali lights and the SAE plug. I ran the trigger wire for the lights, to the same Posi-Tap I used for the voltmeter. Amazingly, it all works! I need to get the horn sorted, then I can button it up.

I installed the Takegawa Crankshaft Support yesterday. This is specific to our bike, and for folks installing a BBK. But I thought it couldn't hurt a non BBK bike either. The instructions are in Japanese. I watched a video on YT and went after it.
It was a straightforward job, there are a couple of cautions, however. You will have to drain the oil. There is a gear at the top, and a spacer which could come out, when you remove the left side cover. Imagine my surprise, when those popped out and rolled on the floor. Also, there are 8 bolts, two of which are shorter than the rest.

Use caution when reinstalling. I put a short bolt in a hole meant for a long bolt, and spun a few threads out of the case. I successfully re-installed the proper bolt, and there is no leaking so far. I hope I don't need to heli-coil that hole.
The bearing retainer has a low side that you need to be mindful of. The low side goes over the bolt hole that the wires are connected to. The bolts holding the OEM retainer on the stator are very tight. I used a small breaker bar with a 8mm socket.

The bike seems a little smoother at full throttle, what is odd, is now there seems to be more vibrations at idle. My mirrors are moving enough that they are making noise. Once I get underway, the vibration

goes away.IMG_3279.jpgIMG_3280.jpgIMG_3281.jpgIMG_3282.jpg

What’s a BBK? Were you having issues or just tinkering?
Big Bore Kit. This kit provides a 4th point of support for the crankshaft, and it spins on a bearing, instead of nothing. It's for the higher torque of a BBK, but it can't hurt a non BBK bike to have extra support for the crankshaft. I've also noticed a little less vibration at full throttle, which, this bike spends most it's time at. Plus, I do like to tinker and learn more about wrenching. ;)

I won't be able to plate my bike until April. Thank you governor Sisolak. So, in the interim, I'm doing all the mods I want to do. So far, I have ordered:

Motoskill: Center rack, headlight and top rack, and crash bars.
Kickstand pad.
IRC GP1 3.00x17 tires, front/rear.
Amber light pods and bar clamps for the crash bar.
Hella horn and Denali Mini Sound bomb. I'll use whichever works best. I have a Soundbomb on the CB300R, and it does a good job.
DID 428 VX X Ring chain 108 length
JT sprocket 13t front sprocket
Side rack with Rotopax mount.
USB charger/Voltmeter.
Doubletake mirrors.
Fender riser

Turn signal protectors. View attachment 94View attachment 95View attachment 96View attachment 97View attachment 98View attachment 99View attachment 100View attachment 101View attachment 102View attachment 103
Tony, I just installed my bracket like your third pic, and was just about to order the Rotopax bracket and one gallon can. After looking at the dimensions of the one gallon can, it's clear that a bracket needs to be offsets the can can clear the bottom of the rack. Where did you get the plate that you bolted to the bracket? I was thinking about using similar spacers, like the ones that came with the bracket, to mount a Rotopax mount directly to the bracket. That way the can would clear the bottom of the rack. I also don't want it too high as to interfere with any luggage on that side. Just talking out loud. Interested in any other options if anyone has any good ideas. Thank you.
