I tried to get my foot down on an off camber hill, my pant leg caught on the rear pedal and hung up. I couldn't get my foot up or down and had to lay it over. I was stopped at the time so not a big deal. When I got home I cut the rear portion off and I don't miss it.

I’m a firm believer in the toe tap, toe tap shifting “flip flop shifter” design on this and the other CT’s. I did rotate it up for heel room in the back.

Just did some bumpy woods trails, only way I could ride was with my heels on the footrests and that goes against every fiber of my being🙃. As soon as I'd stand up for a root or rock I'd upshift by mistake if the balls of my feet were where they belonged. Even tried tennis shoes instead of boots 🤫 Ridiculous, this ain't a cruiser😎, will be lopping off sooner than later.

That almost happened to me today so when I got home I pulled the shifter off and cut off the heel shifter part. Had a similar problem with the kickstarter so might take it off and put in the crate on the back of the CT125.

those heel toes shifters go way back on trail bikes. Not my favorite but they do serve a purpose when adjusted correctly.
the idea behind them was 2 fold. 1: on rough terrain the shifter wouldn't pop down under weight of the front part since it has a counterweight on the back.
2: so that you wouldn't have to drop your toe down in rough areas so your foot wouldn't get snagged. I broke a toe on my old yz in the woods once because of this (and was in a boot as well) hit it on a stump. Im not saying a heel toe shifter would have stopped that, but that was a design concern at the time. just .02.

I rotated the shifter back a notch on the splines, that helped.
Did the same. As soon as the rain stops I will take her for a ride.
The heel toe shifter on my Ural works just fine because there is much more room in that area.

I concede to not lopping off the heel shifter, it was very convenient in the campground and teaching some kids. Well, after clearing the footpeg area first. I rotated the front up a spline, put the kickstarter in my tail bag and brought the shifter in as shown. Basically a vise and 3 pound mallet. I first bent the inside to be parallel to the bike then bent the front and rear shift peg/pad to be perpendicular. 15 minutes.

My issue is not shifting, rather if I try to stand on the pegs my heel inevitably hits the rear shifter. I'm going to try rotating the sifter down one and bent slightly inward toward the bike. Higher toe shift, lower heel, when I install my Hard Racing shaft support. Hopefully this will improve the ergonomics while standing.

I agree, that was my problem also, upshifting by accident when standing. My bends in the back moved it inward and I don't hit it anymore by accident when on the balls of my feet going over rocks and such. Even though you can see it sticking out some the fat bodywork of this bike doesn't let me bring my heels in close enough to hit it! If this was my skinny ol' KTM200XCW it wouldn't work😁
