A Couple of Quality Days with the Trail 125 on the Sporting Clays Course

My primary purpose for purchasing the Trail 125 was to use it as a sporting clays (golf with a shotgun) range vehicle. Previously, I had visited two ranges before with the scabbard mounted, but this week was the first time to participate in a multi-day shoot where I would compete in multiple events (five). The little bike did great! I simply loaded her up in the back of my trusty honda ridgeline and off we went!

I purchased these ramps from Harbor Freight. I added the non skid tape including the yellow center marker tape (also non-skid). The ramps came together as a pair (one for me and one for the bike). It is really easy to walk the bike up in first gear. I am not sure how durable the tape will be as it is actually bridging the open end of the aluminum channel rungs, but the tape is cheap if I need to replace it occasionally as it wears. Without the tape, I found that the rungs could get pretty slippery if my shoes were wet from dew, etc.

Here is the trail 125 tied down and ready for the 125 mile trip each way.

Here is the bike ready to hit the course after unloading in the parking area. All of the accessories added to the bike to make it range-ready worked out perfectly. Many thanks to G19Tony for his recommendation on the Revolution side stand pad from Beez Deals. It arrived from Thailand the day before I had to leave. I was very thankful to have it as I was parking in soft fields, sand and gravel as I went from station to station on the course. I was never concerned about the security of the bike remaining upright and never felt compelled to use the center stand instead of the side stand. My range bag including ammo and other supplies fit wonderfully in the collapsible crate. I attached a couple of snap-on drink holders to the right side of the crate for gatorade and water. The scabbard and scabbard mount continued to perform well - even when I accidently clipped a golf cart tire I was maneuvering around at low speed and neglected to take into account the wider berth created by the scabbard (won't do that again).

The weather was ideal with temps in the 70's. The trail 125 sure did get a lot of attention. It was a joy to use it on the course in it's intended purpose over the two days. Looking forward to the next shoot!

Just slice the tape in the middle, where it goes across the gap, and press it on the inside of the rungs.

I like the tape job, btw. Looks great, and sure footing is always a plus. I'm getting a carrier for the 125, to attach to the back of my Escape. It's just too steep to get bikes into the truck anymore. I'll do it with the other bikes, because I have to. But the 125 goes on the carrier.

thanks for the comments on the tape! It makes a world of difference! I had actually brought home a carrier from harbor freight - and then realized how much space it was going to take to store it (much more than the ramps). I ended up taking it back and exchanging it for the ramps. If I had space to store it, the carrier would have been my first choice.

She's wider then you think... I can get my full size motos on the carrier on either the motor home or the Avalanche, the trail 125 doesn't fit as well, especially with any add ons IMO.

Let us know!

I'll be able to adjust how far the ramp is from the car. I don't foresee any issues.
