Aftermarket skid plates and compatibility with engine guards/crash bars

Hi hivemind,

I have what I think is the motoskills engine guards/crash bars and want to beef up the protection underneath. To those who have aftermarket skids plates/sump guards, are there any issues or considerations with fitment I should bare in mind? Did they fit up without drama with the crash guards pictured below?

Also I have the Yoshi pipe en route. Do these aftermarket plates clear the pipe?

Any major differences in function or quality between the various skid plates out there? I am finding myself becoming a lot more adventurous with the Battletoad and the stock plate is taking a beating especially on the rocky river crossings

I guess I’m looking for someone with the following mods to verify fitment;

Yoshi cyclone
Motoskills crash guards and,
Beefy aftermarket skid plate.

Thanks heaps in advance :)

I have the Zeta skid plate and crash bars. Their skid plate would not fit with the Moto Skills crash bars because the bars protruding to the side of the bike down low would get in the way. You will want to look at the shape of any aftermarket skid plates to make sure they won't have that same problem. I also recommend avoiding any skid plates with large bolt heads that protrude if you actually plan on using the skid plate for protection rather than aesthetics, you do not want a skid plate to catch on things. The lower exhaust heat shield also rubbed on the Zeta engine skid plate, which I addressed with an aftermarket exhaust.

Thanks for the reply mate.

I did follow your thread with keen interest and looked at the Zeta. Great bit of kit. Bombproof but I’d also concluded it probably wouldn’t fit with my set up.

I think the Moriwaki might be the best bet though I’ve not seen many pictures of one installed. Only advertising.

Cheers
