Hi all,

I ride in the hills a lot at night. Love my 125 but brighter lights would be cool.
If I wanted to connect a light straight to the high beam so it can be switched, is the stock wire enough to install it without a relay? I ordered this this Led light bar

Any suggestions? I can make custom brackets and just want to know if anyone has any experience doing this on the 125

Thank you. I all ready had those lights in my Amazon wish list. Wasn’t sure until I saw yours. I bought the mounts for the lights and even installed them on my crash bars.

The same mounts I used? I forgot to post those...

For my new Diode Dynamics C1s and new Diablo crash bars, I used a combination of custom plate and motorcycle mirror mount...

I second Diode Dynamics. I have a pair of SSC1s in "SAE fog" pattern on mine, similar mounting though I did make mine ignition switched (backlight with ignition and a switch for main beam). INCREDIBLE beam – very wide, nice vertical cutoff, way brighter than the OEM headlight.

If you go this route... get a voltmeter as well. The alternator is too weak at idle to keep the battery charged when these are on. It's fine for a traffic light here and there, but don't expect extended stationary use like at a campground.

also, to reduce draw when you dont need the full blast, maybe wire each one individually w a switch so you can just use one when needed and both when its necessary. ?

Out of curiousity, I just did a check in my garage while idling with aux lights on and off...when off, voltage is 14.0V...with the Diode Dynamic C1 cubes (both) on, 13.0V at idle...this is read from my USB port with LED digital Voltage read out and is wired directly to ignition...

DD sort of claims 40W for my pair (I struggle to find an exact spec), similar to the Pro model's 38W. If you have the base SSC1 you're drawing about 25W combined. I also have a few other minor items hooked up, though that should be well under 10W.

At idle my voltage immediately drops to 12.0V and another tenth lower every 30 seconds or so. Without the lights on I'm in the high 13s at idle.

These DDs light up the road very nicely...I did find out my headlights were not adjusted properly and aimed too high appearing to have poor output....once adjusted down they did the job...combined with the aux lights, they're a wonderful team...

> I am gonna check the alignment of my headlight...

I found that adjusting the headlight was nearly useless. If I angled it down to light near-field adequately, I found myself out-riding it at 30mph. If I angled it up properly with the cutoff just below car mirrors, I found it too dim to come close to matching streetlights (which by me are spaced slightly farther apart than makes sense, I was effectively blind between them – eyes adjust to the light, headlight can't adequately light the gap, then the next streetlight keeps my eyes adjusted to bright light).

Don't even get me started on the high beam... When testing out my fog light alignment I was riding with a buddy to make sure I wasn't dazzling him through his mirrors. I also turned on my high beam at one point, he said "It looks like you turned your low beam on". That matches my experience in the dark – it makes distant signs and reflectors a little brighter, but it doesn't seem to illuminate any additional road distance and doesn't help light the shoulders to watch for deer. I have an additional Diode Dynamics spot pattern SSC1 I plan to link to my high beam, I just haven't found time to install it.

Same here with high beam...it added a slightly brighter center point and doesn't really reach out any further than the cut off...my DD is doing the rest of the coverage for higher speeds...good thing I avoid riding at night except to go around the neighborhood slowly for fresh air...

Big +1. I was all, "is my headlight adjusted correctly" the other day and realized yes, it is adjusted correctly, it's just weak AF for city riding. I find it ok on some of the back roads I ride at night, but I don't ride those at more than 25 mph anyway (too many things to run into, too many surprises).
