Balance tires?

Hello, I am going from the stock tires to shinko 2.5 in the front and 3.0 in the back. Do you recommend balancing the tires or is that not necessary?

There is often a paint dot on the tire's sidewall to mark the lightest spot of the tire. You align that with the valve stem on the rim which is often the heaviest spot on the wheel (or wheel with tube in this case). The idea being the two somewhat balance each other out.


Honda do not balance the tires from the factory, or at least I'm yet to see any come with wheel weights. This isn't a very high speed bike so there's a bit more tolerance for the tire not being perfectly balanced. Mount the tires, go for a ride, and then see if you feel the need to balance them. If you do end up wanting to balance them, you'll find the wheels don't fit most balancers - leading to DIY options, balancing on the axle, or buying equipment specific to the small axle size. I've shared my truing setup here if you go down that path, would also work for balancing:
