Can you verify the engine sound?

Hello everyone. I would really appreciate if you could watch the video of my 2023 CT125 engine running.
I have a tapping noise that have appeared on the second day of the ownership. I have only had 50kms on the odometer. Can you please compare this to yours engines? This sound kind of was on and off and now just stays permanently there.
Very much appreciated!!!!!!

I wouldn't sweat it, I'm sure others will chime in.... Lots of metal parts in there doing their thing

Did you overrev it, like downshifting while already at high RPMs? Mine started making a tapping, increasing in volume under acceleration, after I overreved it. Valve clearances are find, I'm thinking it might be rod knock from a bad crank breading but haven't pulled it apart to verify yet.

Everybody told me about valve clearance but thanks for checking. In my case, it's not louder under higher rpm. I'm not sure, if I was to guess, if it's not valves, something with the chain inside the engine or rods not properly broken in. You can hear it all on the video above. The bike has good acceleration and everything, I'm still looking to check with my dealer, but I want to pinpoint at least something before I go to there. Let's say something happened on the first 70km of driving the bike. Then it's something within breaking in the engine process. If you have any more information, please keep me updated, at this time it can be many things, timing chain, tensioner, ect. Are you planning on opening the engine up and diagnosing it? Is the sound on the video same as what you experiencing with your bike?
Thanks, 👍🏻

It's a similar sound but mine's doesn't seem that loud at idle (although it seems like maybe your bike is idling a little fast? not sure) and mine distinctly gets louder with load on the engine.

Yes I'm going to open it up. Won't be for a month or so but I'll report back what I find.

It kind of sounded like a plastic card put in the front wheel rubbing on the wheel spokes like the kids used to do. And then it got more pronounced.
Video tells it all. Worst case scenario, is it something that can go worse with time? And is it covered by the warranty if that was something like you said? Thanks 👍🏻

Honestly I don't know. You could take it to your dealer and have them listen to it but they usually just try to deflect everything in my experience. Do you know any motorcycle enthusiasts or have any local shop you could swing by and just have them give it a listen?

Honestly, IF I was close to a dealer AND it was still under warranty I would let them check it out. Peace of mind and all that kind of stuff.
just my thoughts.
I hope M in SC drops by soon. I trust his thoughts.

thats valve tappet noise for sure. adjust the valves. def not a rod knock, piston, or wristpin. fwiw, it will -never- be silent. it prob shouldn't be that loud, but digital mics pick up weird noises and can enhance them. take a long screwdriver, and set it on the cam cover, and put the handle end to your ear and listen to it. (or use a stethoscope). if its a gentle 'whir' its fine. it will of course have a light cadence to it.

Thanks for stopping by. It makes sense, I could try sending the bike for valve check up at the shop. At the end of it, the bike didn't loose any power and rides good.
Hmm, I only have 700kms on the bike, it may need valve adjustment? I just hope nothing went wrong during the break in period, but again thanks for your opinion.
Thanks everybody, appreciate it.

My 2021 CT125 makes the same sound at high revs. Can hear it mostly in the 80-90 km/h speed range. Seems to disappear when going 90-110 km/h. I've checked the valve clearances and they're spot on. During an early oil change I took the cam spring bolt out by accident and the shaft thing and the spring shot out - put them back in straight away and thought that maybe that was the cause. Not sure.

Bike has 5000km on it at the moment. Been changing oil myself every 1000km. Might get an actual mechanic to have a look at the 6000km service and see what they say.

Listening to head... block... or wharever you touch with the end of the handel tucked to your ear. It might locate the highest entensity of the noise

That's the problem. 9/10 of people say it's a normal sound. But I appreciate your input too.
It's a new bike, and I already bought a kit for valve adjustment. I will update everyone when I do check it, especially after m c said it's valve sound.
Haven't done anything to the bike, so either valves, poor brake in. Dealer told me to get f out, since I only have 1000km and according to their system it's not time yet to check valves (I was warned about dealers haha).
Anyways, I'll give an update, and worst case scenario hopefully something goes wrong within a year so I can claim the warranty:)
Thanks again everybody. Update is coming.

nah, not unusual actually. after that it should hold for a long time.

Hopefully the jam nut was a little loose.
Hello, everyone. Hope all doing well.
I've had a time today to check valve clearance on my bike.
Intake: spot on
Exhaust: was very tight, had to adjust.

Still testing but it kind of has helped a little, I'm not sure yet, funny if that small adjustment can really make that much of a difference, but I feel like at least the very tight exhaust valve is adjusted now which is good. It didn't fix it completely but seems a bit better now.
I have tried screwdriver 🪛 method, to be honest I couldn't pin point 100 percent where the noise was coming from.
And do these engines have like timing, timing marks that they can skip a tooth? And it would be slightly off? I couldn't find a video about it.
Thx
