In 9 days on the 29th i will be loading the trail in a 10ft uhaul and traveling to Las Cruces, NM to meet Sneakydingo who has shipped his trail to the local honda dealer, and imacbo who is riding a TW200 from Arkansas. We will be spending the 30th in Las Cruces and moving to Deming on the 31st, from Deming we will travel to Antelope Wells on June 1st to start our ride on the CDT, we hope to cover 200 miles a day and finish at the Canada border in around 15 days. I plan of posting a daily progress report here as cell service allows. Thanks to everyone who's provided advice and we'll wishes over the last few months as we've planned this trip out, wish all you guys were coming along, just think of it, a herd of trail 125s stampeding like100s of angry turtles along the dirt roads from NM to MT, by God that would be a site to see.

Today's the day, in a little while I'll be driving to Las cruces, this is real now, money's spent and time to see if I've got anything left in the adventure tank? The preparations haven't gone as I expected, been fighting a cold or allergies all week, uhaul threw me a curve ball and I didn't lose 100pds, oh well time to suck it up and drive on. I can't help thinking about the 1st couple chapters of the hobbit my favorite book since childhood, like bilbo I probably wouldn't have the courage to go if I knew everything that's going to happen to me, but like him I going to trust my luck and hope to survive my personal dragon. Well my friends the roads goes ever onward and I must see where this one leads. Bryan

I really don't want to post this but I should be honest with you guys, so far imacbo traveling from Arkansas to Las cruces had his TW200 break down and had to have his DR650 delivered to finish his ride to the start point, when Sneakydingo and I went to pick up his bike from the Honda dealership there was a dead guy in a body bag in the road in front of the drive entrance being loaded into a morgue vehicle, then we drove to uhaul to unload my bike and turn in the uhaul to find I brought the key to my rebel 500. My wife is overnight the key for 120.00 ups so I can ride tomorrow so I kept the uhaul an extra day get to the motel and find a nail thru the sidewall, you all pray for us!

In my defense I've spent the last several days taking as much cold medicine as I can walk around with and I had to drive 160 miles round trip to pick up the uhaul instead of the 3 miles it was supposed to be, so I wasn't at my best when my wife and I were loading the bike.

At 50mph that is pluggable - as a backup you of course have the old tube in your spares kit …

Feels a little like the titanic 😁 hopefully we'll get all the bad luck out of the way at the start, you know I watched the tat ride with Johnny pow where he forgot his key and said what an idiot, I would like to formally apologize for that. And beg karma forgiveness

I like that bit about getting all of the bad luck out of the way first! And that stretch of misadventure must surely end sometime, right? Maybe this will give you a chance to rest a bit before the ride properly begins. I think that it’s pretty natural to feel a little off-balance before a big trip/adventure. I would. I hope and I’d bet that you guys will find the groove after a few gentle miles go by under the wheels.

Lost key, flat tire, switching bikes because of failure, cold medicine, extra 157 miles in UHaul,
getting wifey involved, not bad luck, just part of the Adventure! You’ll be telling stories about this start more than the actual Adventure.
Now the guy in the body bag, THAT’S BAD LUCK!
Enjoy, wish I was going with you, starting from now tho!!
Happy riding,

So far I’m glad I am not on this trip, but if it starts getting fun, I’ll change my mind. Usually trips start with fun and go south as they progress, this one is starting bad and will end well for you guys. We are all rooting for you guys , so hope for the best, expect the worst, that way there is no room for disappointment. This is fun following this real life adventure. We want to see daily pics or this trip never really happened!
