Flabound, please come to the Richloam ride. The pace will be slow, and the trails are nice. You will meet some other friendly riders for future rides in the central Florida State Forest trails. So far, everyone that is coming to Richloam has no experience there, so we are all in your same position, no worries..
Thank you for the encouragement.
I'm going to do my best to carve out that day.

Doesn't look like I'm going to make this ride. But hope to join you all on future rides.

Getting a mc carrier that should help me expand my riding area.

Ride safe

I am waiting on delivery of a carrier for my car. The specs regarding tongue, and overall weight capacity looks good. My thought is I'll spend less time going to and from on faster boring roads, and allow more time for trail riding. Should eliminate dark and rainy rides home as well.

Curious if others are doing the same.

Looking at the list so far, in Central Florida we have:
FL352rider Clermont
mysticbus Daytona
Blacknsilver Apopka
interex87 Orlando
Quadjeeper Winter Springs
vintagegarage Crystal River

It's a long way from Daytona to Crystal River, Looks like there is some hope for Clermont/Apopka/Orlando/Winter Spring though. We still haven't heard from anyone in the Tampa area on this thread.

I don't know.. The guys who started this thread are long gone, so they can't edit the title of this thread. A new title with the date time and place would get more visibility in the forum, but I think everyone on the forum knows about this thread, so starting a new thread may not bring in more eyes. What do you think? I think the best chance of getting more riders is getting Trail 125 people on Facebook to join this forum, by pointing them to either this topic or a new one specific to November 4. It would be great if someone with a Facebook account post the link to this forum topic on the Facebook Page for Local Riders Mini Moto 34668:

That page is not very active, but claims to have 30 members..
Are we still goin to Richloam tomorrow???? Dean here.
Crypticvoyager, that is great news! We are now up to five for the ride in Richloam. Other than the Richloam store, there is no food in Richloam itself. Everyone should either buy food at the Richloam store before the ride to bring along or bring lunch from home for a trail lunch stop around noon. There is also no gasoline stations anywhere in Richloam Wildlife Management Area.

Crypticvoyager 2023 Honda Trail 125

I plan to meet up with Crypticvoyager and his friend in Inverness and have a three man ride from Inverness to Richloam. I think Cameradean and I will both be making YouTube videos on the ride. I am looking forward to seeing everyone's Trails. We have a pretty good mix of about everything.

Is the meetup...still at 10am??

Time to start planning something for April, 2024? I am thinking something in the St. Augustine area or Jacksonville this time so JS45 doesn't have to travel so far.

Just found this thread and wanted to add my name to the Central FL riders list! I'm in Winter Garden on a JA65. Haven't ridden with anybody yet and would love to change that. Thanks.

I should have a hitch carrier soon, I live in the Gainesville area, but can travel up to probably 100 mile radius. I'm good with trail riding, as long as they are more or less improved trails. My preference is not a bunch of mud and water. I have a quad for that, don't plan to drag the little donkey thru the Mud. I rode up to Osceola Ranger Station today and picked up some maps of the National forest: 85 miles was a nice ride. There are some really nice roads up that way... but you more of less need to transport your bike up to at least Lake City. I'm sure there are plenty of places to ride all up and down the state.

Here's a question. What if anything are you guys doing for coms? Anyone doing like Cardo Mesh or Bluetooth?

Mike, I agree, there are some good ideas in there. Those rides though are street rides mostly aimed at the Harley guys, and most aren't very close to Jacksonville. The ride closest to Jacksonville in that link, uses I-95 most of the way. Please keep looking and come up with other ideas close to Jacksonville, that includes some legal trail riding as well. Something on back roads that leads to a State Forest or State Park that allows street registered motorcycles on firm trails there, or else something within a State area that allows registered vehicles on the roads. I think everyone shares your view that they want to avoid mud and water, and I would also add to try to avoid deep sand.

Gainesville is pretty close to Jacksonville. Maybe find something about halfway between Gainesville and Jacksonville, so that none of us including yourself need to trailer to the meeting point for the ride.

I have never been to Jennings State Forest, but here is a map that has some promise?

While much of the trails there are hiking and horse trails, I think all the trails in black are good roads that allow registered vehicles. You can also use Google Street view on some of the black roads, and they look to be ok. 217 is paved, Long Branch is some paved and some dirt, hard to tell about the sand there though.

Also look at Belmore Wildlife Management Area, and also all the other green spots on the map between Gainesville and Jacksonville.

You have to research the access fees too. Most of the wildlife management area's fees are inexpensive but some are not.

Glad you have volunteered to lead the event. Much appreciated... count me in no matter where it is.

Belmore has promise as does Camp Blanding Nearby... there are other things to do nearby as as well... If none of you have ever been to Brian's ACE Hardware in Keystone, and are at all interested in knives it's worth the 10 mile ride over there... they stock well over 1,000 different knives. Of course I'll need a permission slip from the misses to get within 10 miles of the place, as I crossed the line on how many knives a man can own years ago... ;) Which is interesting I pretty much carry one single knife 99% of the time: Spyderco Stretch 2 in K390. But somehow every time I get near that place a new knife appears in my display case... it's crazy, crazy I tell you. I have no need to go, but if others are interested I'll suffer thru the ordeal, and ride over there with you guys. There are some twisty roads over that way, and a some pretty interesting lakefront drives as well.

I'll go over and scout the place as soon as it stops raining, and report back. I have zero intention of getting on I-75, I-95, I-275 or I-anything on Donkey. I rode over to the ranger station at Osceola a few days back and picked up a map... it was a nice ride. There is lot of water up that way... and I suspect after it rains for the next few days, that is only going to get worse. I personally really like riding up that way, but I suspect it requires everyone other than me to transport your CT via truck in some fashion. Belmore may be our best option... I haven't been there before, so I'm looking forward to the scouting expedition... 100% why I own this thing. :)

Mike, all that sounds good.. After your scouting and you pick a good place, the best plan would be for you to start a new topic with the name of the place in the headline. This topic has outlived its usefulness. The original OP and all the first half dozen guys who said they were in, don't have Trail 125s any longer and are no longer on the forum. With a new topic, you can get a real discussion going and see who is really coming. I'd plan to go no matter where you decide to meet up. The reason to be close to Jacksonville is to bring the group up toward that area. A fall ride can be closer to the Gulf, perhaps to Goethe Forest or Chassahowitzka.

Hitch carrier installed/tested. I spoke to FWC this morning, and to Camp Blanding as well. The information was sketchy... "well, I've never been there, I have no idea what the roads are like" (what was I expecting, I should have known she had never been there, probably never been out of the office)... so I'll be visiting soon, and post a new Topic on a proposed route, then we can work out dates with whoever shows up on the new Post. They are a bit picky on where we enter/exit from... most of the roads have locked gates (for their use not ours). I suspect the public access roads are all photo happy, so we will have to be sure to comb our hair, and trim our beards for our photos.
