Hi All,

About a month ago I did a little weekend trip, it was going to be a full week but due to some issues I started late and only did a portion of the trip. Full trip is on hold till next year now.

Trip Map (2).jpg

Day 1: Start off in the Chicagoland area real early but I missed the 6AM ferry in Milwaukee, no big deal stopped for a hearty breakfast at a coffee place and enjoyed the area until the 12PM Ferry came by. 200bux for a 2 and a half hour trip to Muskegon, never did a ferry trip let alone on a CT125. Nice way to get to Michigan from across the lake.

This speed ferry comes with straps and you just have to do the work make sure the bike doesnt go anywhere during the trip. Pretty simple with the rack as the anchor. Traveling with a couple big Harleys next to me.

Didn't get off the Ferry till 3:30ish Michigan time so off to Honda dealer that has the local OVR stickers. Babbit's had them, they liked the CT125 when I pulled up to the parking lot too. It gets a thumps up pretty much everywhere.

After that I got on a short stretch of highway that connects Muskegon to the first forested area and then finally hit the gravel roads around 5pm or so, rode for another 2hrs until I reached While Cloud MI to camp.

Day 2:

It rained a bit overnight and a in the morning, got a half hour when it stopped so Time to pack and get moving. When I left the campground, that's when the rain got really serious. My rain gear held out pretty well all day though.

In no time I was in Manistee forest north of White Cloud

While it was drizzling half the time, it the trails and forest roads were fine. No Huge puddles or the like.

Finally came across a short section of single track motorcycle trails.

Fuel up on the way back to the lake.

Once I got out of the forest, I went west to Ludington which is on lake Michigan to find a camp spot. I ended staying at State Beach Campground.

Day 3:

Another cool morning, didn't get going till 9am or so. Stopped by the beach before heading out around the lake back to Chicagoland.

Went along the Michigan coast for most of the day, towards the end of the day I started noticing that I was having a hard time even reaching 45mph on straight roads for a while so I'm not sure what is going on there.

I did get my first flat on the road ever on a a new tire. I attribute that to me, mostly probably not doing it right before the trip. Lesson learned for next time, only took an hour or so to change it at the gas station which is not bad for 2nd time overall.

Can't wait till next year to do the full around the lake trip.

Cheers!
