I don't normally say this, but I think this is one of those videos where I say, I think that's an incredible build, I'd love to own it, but I'm also totally in love with my bike as it is right now so I'm kind of glad I don't.

Now, if I had TWO bikes...

I really would love to have basically all of that motor. If the 5-speed tranny only tops out with a fifth gear that's the same as our fourth I'm irrelevant to that but having the extra grunt would be nice. I wonder.... I might reach out to these guys find out where in Georgia they are and find out how much it would cost for them to do that entire engine package on my red rocket

Assuming they used the same Takegawa 5-speed gear kit that's sold for the Grom, then 5th is the same ratio as 4th was. 1st is a taller (lower) ratio so you'd lose some grunt there which would be a questionable sacrifice to make for trail use on the stock motor, but probably works out alright with the 181cc build. The main advantage is closer ratios for each gear, IMO the bike in its stock form has too large a gap between 3rd and 4th, where adding another gear in-between would be advantageous for mid-speed uphill riding where 4th doesn't pull hard enough so you have to drop it into 3rd, but at 3rd you're running out of RPM before getting up to a comfortable speed.

Stock CT125 transmission gear ratios (source: Owner's Manual, page 100)
1st: 2.500
2nd: 1.550
3rd: 1.150
4th: 0.923

Takegawa 5 Speed gear ratios (source, Takegawa transmission kit manual, page 1)
1st: 2.333
2nd: 1.684
3rd: 1.272
4th: 1.040
5th: 0.923

i never did the 5 speed mod on the grom, and my old 4v would pull 100 mph, 95 verified. I actually see it more useful on the trail as a mod to be honest. never saw the point if you had the HP to push through it. my .02
