Well it might be thinner and harder but geeze it’s so much more comfortable somehow. Seems to fit the bikes ergos perfectly. That little flick up and the rear stops the tailbone jarring on the rear handle. 100% recommend.

Yep I like mine too. I sure like that green color on your bike, not that there's anything wrong with RED

I like mine as well. It's definitely harder, wouldn't mind something being slightly softer, but oh so much more comfortable. Combined with the suspension upgrade, I rail through everything with confidence yet also roll long distance with comfort. It is slightly lower too; being a tall guy, I wish it was slightly higher, but I'll take it for sure.

Something I noticed afterwards is that the seat sits much closer to that grab rail on the rear rack; if I'm wearing gloves, I can't grab that railing anymore. I can only do it with my bare hand, definitely not with gloves on. This is slightly inconvenient as I usually grab the bike and will lift it up to move it around using that hook (probably not supposed to do that). It's a small price to pay to have to do this gloves off, vs. the original seat which the justice department has ruled is a constitutional violation under the 8th Amendment for reasons of cruel and unusual ass punishment.

Yep. Ebay too.
Except mine was the ‘brown vintage’ apparently.

If the Diablo is harder then how can it be more comfortable. The stock seat really does suck! Is the Diablo the better seat or is one of the other name brands better? Thanks for any input, really would like to get a better butt cushion.

I do not know my good man. It just is. Have spent hours in the new saddle, thinner lower and harder but it’s just more comfortable. One of life’s great mysteries.

The Diablo seat is very close in shape to the super cub seat, it has slightly less padding, but it has the diamond stitching. They are very close in comfort but I almost think the Diablo is better....maybe

As a general principle, when sitting normally, the sit bones support the body's weight and have the capability to withstand high pressure, but if you're not supporting the body's weight on the sit bones properly it will feel uncomfortable.

Probably the best known tech in the cycling world employing this ideology is Brooks Saddles, a series of leather saddles designed for bicycle riders who value comfort over price or weight. The principle for choosing a Brooks saddle is that the saddle feels good at first, and gets better over time. The way this works and why they're made from leather is that under conditions of heat, moisture and pressure, leather will deform to support the rider's sit bones and pressure points resulting in a comfort fit specific to your butt. There's a bit more to it, but that's the general ideology, and it holds true across all the other manufacturers.

Honda had a different idea of what was good in terms of saddles to the NA market reality, which is why it feels so uncomfortable for us. I often say, "Someone at Honda worked really hard to make such an uncomfortable seat" which is very true.

As someone who spent 10.5h on the Diablo seat yesterday, with enough time to recover and say "could I do it all again today", the Diablo seat and likely most of those aftermarket seats from Thailand are head and shoulders above the stock seat. If you're thinking, "should I?" I would point out that the resale potential for such a seat with a good reputation is extremely high, so it's likely that you won't be too much out of pocket if it doesn't work for you.

Most high end touring seats are stiffer than the stock ones, corbin for example. too squishy dosn't give support.
and i disagree, its not shaped like the super cub seat, at all. (or any more than the trail seat is). the only difference between the 2 is the cub seat is slightly lower in the pad area. by 1/2 ish inch, but the saddle shape/profile itself is the same otherwise. . Here's Angies cub w my trail in the background with the stock seat on it. basically the same. certainly the same material for the padding.

Does anyone have the 'Special Super Slim' version of the Diablo seat? I just got the bike and I need a little seat lowering, wondering how it compares to the regular version.

I finally got rid of that torture device called a seat on my LRD. Ordered the Diablo seat on Ebay from z-speedshop for $141.55 and exactly seven days later it was delivered by DHL. The overall dimensions are not that much different. Stock seat is 15 1/2' long, 12 1/2" wide, and 4 3/4" high. The Diablo seat is 15 3/4" long, 12 3/4" wide, and 4 1/4" high. However, that 1/2" height difference and the overall shape of the seat make a big difference. Hopefully the side-by-side photos of the two seats reveal why the seat feels so much better. I had to search to find the version with the diamonds going the full length of the seat, but I really like the look on the bike.

Not sure what magic Honda worked on the stock seat, can anyone explain something so universally disliked?

I didnt mind mine TBH, bought my diablo on a lark. its better (the contour) but i don't understand the universal hatred either. want bad? ride a stock KTM390 seat from 2015-2016. that things a brick that cuts into your thighs.

I have a hunch if you carved a seat out of wood in the shape of the stock seat, it just might be more comfortable🤣. Some of the early bicycles had wooden seats, they did

From my first ride I wished the seat was a little higher to get my knees lower. I thought it would help with using the heel shifter as well as making it easier to get my weight on the pegs. So the idea of a low seat never appealed- I can already stand flat footed over the stock seat. I recently ordered the K&H leather seat from WeBike Japan which adds 20mm in height, and promises that you can grip the nose of the saddle with your thighs to help in cornering (since we don’t have the tank in the usual position). The photos look great and K&H is known for quality seats, so I’m really looking forward to putting this on my Trail- unfortunately the wait time on made-to-order means November delivery. Oh well… my bum will be happier next season!
