Dropped Screw...

I was removing my side panel to install a wire harness for aux lights and dropped a screw. It seems to have fallen between the back of the motor and the swingarm. Does anyone know how to remove the battery box or if this would be accessible by removing rear fender liner?

Thanks!

Try removing the crash shield below the engine then rock the bike side to side...good luck!

If you're able to locate the screw but need diagrams for how to get to it, there's parts diagrams and the service manual linked here.

If the screw isn't magnetic then a claw grabber type tool might be useful for snaking down to the screw to grab it.

Great idea, I've located the screw...not magnetic. Going to pick up a claw here shortly!

I learned to remove half of my bike panels because I dropped a screw!! It was behind the front sprocket cover, but not where the front sprocket was. Aaah, memories...

FWIW, the bike is ok if you lie it down on its side too, but you might want to prevent scratches (on grass, on a rug).

I dropped my battery terminal bolt in that same spot. At least that's where I assume it is. Took half the bike apart and finally said screw it and bought a replacement. Infuriating they left it open like that, but also sealed off so it doesn't come back out the bottom.

Yup! Same bolt and same spot. Super frustrating but I'm at the point of just replacing it but hate knowing it's there...

I'll save you some future frustration. I couldn't find a replacement that was similar quality to the OEM anywhere. The guy at the local battery's plus bulbs gave me one he had which got me going again. Just make sure you get one with the cross in the head for using a Phillips screwdriver. Once I put a battery tender on mine there isn't enough room to get a socket in there.

Before removing any panels around the Honda Trail 125's battery or stem area, I always insert dry white rags in the open areas that screws can and in my case always fall into. A bag of clean white rags was $3.95 at the local hardware store. Sherwin Williams store has 1 pound of white rags on sale for less. Learned my lesson the hard way. The battery screw now has a 2” length of heat shrink over it but still gives access to the head
