Picked up my new Trail on Thursday and rode a big loop through NY / NJ / PA including some light off roading on Saturday. What a pleasure! This bike has some personality and character! The reserve light came on at around 150 miles, which is pretty incredible on 1 gallon of gas. I'm new at off roading so that was an adventure in and of itself. The seat is a torture device, though. I'm going to have to find a solution to that soon.

Strongly agree with your personality and character comment, as well as your comment about the seat. I've had my LRD for about three months now and I'm getting more used to the seat. I've found just standing on the pegs for 5-10 seconds after riding for longer periods helps. Happy trails!

I'm going to try the "Diablo" seat to get me through this year, and then during winter I will send the stock seat into BMS for a rebuild. I do that for all my touring bikes and it's night and day - I can (and have) sat on those seats for 20 hours straight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3_u7NyR_GY&t=125s

I just looked up that bms site to see what you were referring to. Sadly there is a banner on the site that says one of the main guys died:

"Breaking News: It is with extreme sadness that the BMS family announce the sudden and unexpected loss of Rocky Mayer on Friday July 16 in Paonia, Colorado."

Yes, I was sad to learn about that. Rocky was a great guy and a master at his craft! But the company lives on in good hands. I will be sending my seat there soon. The seat is the only thing I hate about my Trail. I really, really love everything else so far.
