Hi all. After not being able to grab a Trail 125 when they were first announced I had luck firmly on my side today when I sent a text to a friend that works in a dealership. Several zigs and zags and a heap of luck later and a truck that was unloaded today had a Trail inside. If I'd asked tomorrow it'd probably be someone else's already. Deposit down and looking forward to collecting possibly on Thursday.
It'll be a complete departure to my other bikes and Im excited to get some miles on it. I see there is a wealth of knowledge here and it'd take more time than I have to read all that I think I might need to know straight away. If there are any MUST KNOWS, quirks to breaking it in etc please let me know. Thanks 😁

Welcome. That's pretty good luck. Every dealer around me has a waitlist.

I'm being cautious about accessories because I'm not sure about compatibility between 2023 and previous years. I think we're still finding that out as deliveries just started.

I know if I'd called just a day later (if that) I would've missed my opportunity. 2 came in, 1 was already spoken for, the other one is now too 😁
One other place I'd contacted had theirs allocated with a waitlist.

I'm not sure how crazy I'm going to go accessorizing it, probably a milk crate on the back will do for a while. I noticed a distinct lack of aftermarket stuff in my very brief search online.

Picked up Snot today. Got a few miles in after getting it off the truck and it's definitely going to take some time to retrain my brain when shifting. I'm so used to blipping the throttle when shifting but the lil Trail isn't digging that. Any tips to smooth things out much appreciated.
Edit; YouTube search threw up vids where folks are selecting a gear but returning lever slowly to be able to match revs. Makes sense. I was knocking it into gear but releasing lever pressure instantly, not considering that the clutch action is within the same mechanism.
So, things to try on my commute tomorrow.

First commute in the books. Much better ride using the shifter properly. Still going to take practice but overall 80% better shifts.
Im used to ripping a Tiger 800 or Daytona 675 to work so it's definitely a chalk and cheese comparison. 😆

Welcome to the forums. Walking into a Honda dealership and there being a 2023 Trail 125 unclaimed, that ain’t happening in Ky. This new color has folks placing deposits. Having a buddy that works at a dealership is a blessing. Still waiting on my 23, should be here before June, got my deposit down. Nengbike is my 2022, my 2023 is called The Green Machine. I already ordered racks from Beez, and the dealership will be putting on 244s before it rolls out the front door. My designated trail bike. What state you in? On the shifting, when you drop the throttle, ease it into gear, it don’t need to move the full travel and go “clunk”. Less than half the travel and mine is in gear nice and quiet like. I noticed the gear changing effort lessened quite a bit after the first oil change. Anyway, enjoy the bike, post some ride reports, pics, likes, gripes, etc.
