Front Brake

My front brake is too "tight". I think it feels like full braking force right away instead of lighter to full. I have installed an aftermarket lever and everything was good. Just noticed that something doesnt feel right, not sure how to troubleshoot the front brake. Could just be my perception but definitely feels like somethings off.

Thanks in advance for any info.

what do you mean by 'off'?
is it dragging? if so, the aftermarket lever may not have enough free play to the plunger. not an uncommon issue especially with amazon or ebay levers.

Not dragging. It’s like when I pull it’s at full engagement right away.

i got the lever from Beez Deals. i think I’ll put the OEM one back on and see how it feels. Tht might help me determine the problem. It may be nothing, I’ve had the aftermarket lever on for a bit.

Pavement or dirt? Mine feels crappy on bouncy dirt trails, I’ve attributed it to the abs system.

might want to do flush and fill. just bleed out what's in there and refresh it. I'll admit, the trail brake is not the most progressive one ive ever felt, and i left mine stock because for me, its fine. however, aftermarket lever geometry can make it go either way, either too aggressive or too squishy.

You might check the difference in piston diameters between the original and replacement master cylinder’s. I believe your original is 12mm. Some of the replacements I’ve seen can be 15-18mm. Usually has more effect on lever throw than the actual lever feel. Hope this helps.
