Gear Shift Shaft Support / What do you think of this accessory?

I'm interested in what folks think about this accessory. I've their purpose was to prevent or reduce damage to the shift rod resulting from dumping the bike on the left side.
According to the retailer: This reduces the bending of Gear Shaft that occurs during shift change, improves the shift touch, and achieves small and nice shift change. Type 1 used ball bearings, but Type 2 uses needle bearings to improve the shift touch.
Currently $73.69 USD from Webike

What do you folks think? Is this accessory:
  1. critical insurance against real potential damage to the bike
  2. could be beneficial, if the bike happened to land hard the wrong way
  3. absolutely not needed, a waste of $$
If you have one of these on your bike, please share what you think about it.

Thanks

ive run them on the grom and this motor. it adds support and shifts more positively IMHO. On the grom with rearset linkage, it made more of a difference IMHO, but its def helped on the trail as well. it certainly doesn't hurt anything.

Spending money on stuff you dont need is always fun!!! The 1975 CT-90 is my daily driver to work and has made it 47 years but you never know...

slight rant:

Its not a CT90, totally different bike, sorry, the constant mechanical comparisons are laughable in many ways.. gear ratios, torque, etc. 'why isn't it like my CT70/CT90/CT110'? because... its a tarted up super cub. I get using it for similar/same applications, and cosmetically, sure, the new ones apes the old ones so i get that. However..

If they are the same.. tell me what motor & other parts swap? pretty much zero as far as mechanical stuff. its like comparing a 67 mustang GT500 to a 2019 bullit edition one. Or my 2014 CB1100 to a 1983 CB1100. Nothing of consequence swaps, its different. New owners need to be aware of this.

to the shift shaft:

I've owned well over 120 vintage bikes, shift shafts wear under normal use over time. Glad you have had 47 years of good use out of yours. I have bikes older than that are also fine and ride pretty regular, but a bit of preventative doesn't hurt either, and that's pretty much what this is. Keeps the shift shaft from flexing. Materials are different, etc. .02 Necessary? no, but then again neither is the bike. As ive said may times in the past... the garage is full of wants, not needs. ;)

I’m using the Revolution brand shift bracket. $40 on Beez deals. I always upshift with my heel and appreciate the added support.

I just installed the Revolution one today on a 22. I give it a 10% increase in shift stability, especially for heel shifting. It was bit more involved having to remove the side stand sensor. There is also a short post that makes getting to the right bracket bolt a little b1tch. All in all, happy with the price of mind know there is less torsional stress on the input shaft.

Purchased GCraft's first model with the roller bearings. Definitely improved shift quality. Around $90 Aussie dollars though. Their newer type bracket was changed to use bearings and some debate as to which is the better. For me it was money well spent.

this isnt a 75 CT-90.

they do make the shift more positive, and eliminates some flex from the shaft. I run one on my trail and did for many years on my grom till i did a motor swap.

Copy, we'll meet back here in 20 years and see if mine failed due to flex or if I'm chronically missing shifts... Looking forward to resolving this and seeing if i missed out!(y)
