What van mods do you have planned? Camper/toy hauler?

I've often thought about buying a small enclosed trailer to make into a sleeper / MC hauler. Suckers are expensive though!
We had a ram promaster 2015 we lived in for a couple yrs in Montana when we 1st moved there and we always regret selling it, we had a very minimal build with a built in full size bed, a 48in rolling toolbox from home depot as a kitchen counter and storage with a camp stove, a small fridge and a portable potty for her, we used tubs for clothes storage under the bed and that's about it. I want the minimal approach and she likes youtube videos of full build outs so we will see what happens. We have a 2022 sporttrek 251vfk rv and a 20x8.5 custom cargotrailer we camp in so I'm going to take my time with the van. Right now I'm concentrate on the trip in June coming up.

I died a little inside when I ran through a Sprinter van customization page. For like a solid 9-12 months before I bought my house, that was my early morning lotto dream... go build up a custom camper, drool, look at price, cry...
Honestly I've had several versions over the yrs and believe me the simplest design is the best especially when stuff starts to break. And it will if you're using it every day. That's my biggest problems with rvs no room to work on any plumbing or electrical issues. We are thinking of selling ours because of that and rv parks have doubled their fees seems like. We can rent an apt for a little more than we spend on a rv space monthly. Here in yankton it's 750 to a 1000 per month for a rv space, we are renting a 2bedroom house with all utilities for a 1000. That's a no brainer in my book.

Just bought a 2021 Ford transit 250 148wb to modify a bit so of course it's going to start snowing 🥺, it's never going to stop, if I were a weaker man I might start drinking again 😇

Yup. I've even looked into the Rockler heavy duty slides as a potential solution for sliding heavy units out for maintenance reasons. Oh, the number of hours I've spent lusting over just being able to pick up and go...

My wife and I have this conversation quite a lot, I have way to many possessions and it seems like we keep getting more all the time with the initial plan to replace or reduce existing stuff, just never happens. Gotta work on my discipline this year I suppose. Walking away from it all is but terrifying and liberating at the same time, way easier when I was younger though.

Nice van! Rented a Ford250 Transit van from Hertz to move my daughter from UT to OK, then drove it back again - about 2,500 miles total. TBH didn't expect too much from the 3.5L EcoBoost, but was actually amazed. ~20mpg, surprisingly strong, no compromises at all IMO. Then, in 60+mph crosswinds and worse gusts on I-80 across Wyoming, where even some semi trucks were pulled-over, that Transit was dead stable, no sway, drove impressively straight ahead regardless of the strong wind gusts. Again v. surprising for such a high-profile van. Friend told me its suspension design incorporates body-roll/anti-sway mechanism for this purpose. Sure works great!
