I'm looking to plan a solo off road/camping trip in next month in Mid March. I will be towing my CT, starting in Columbus, OH and am willing to put down max 8 hrs of travel south. Can ppl recommend some ORV trails that would be good for my first solo riding? Preferably they would be easy to navigate, easy terrain, accessible from nearby campgrounds or offer rustic camping along the trail. I am not the most experienced rider (less than 10 ORV trips) and will be alone so I want to make sure I'm going to an easy trail system. Im planning to get a GPS for navigation and have all the proper camping gear for backcountry camping. Im also looking to do some kayaking/fishing during this trip. Those options being nearby would be an added bonus, ORV trails are the main focus. Thanks in advance!

There's great camping, fishing, and white water kayaking in the New River Gorge National Park in WV. Some ORV trails run along the New River and have good views while not being very technical, but you still have to be careful of downed trees and oncoming 4x4s.
https://www.alltrails.com/ is a good resource for looking up the ORV trails.
Thurmond is right around the upper center of the park and worth checking out:

Here's some info on trails in NC: https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/nfsnc/recreation/ohv

I haven't been yet, but I've heard good things about Uwharrie. Planning to do it in a month or two.
I’d love to check that area out. I’ve been to Pisgah and Grandfather Mtn when visiting Asheville. Looks like I will be about 2 weeks early on trails being open. Thought tht may be a problem, same with here in Southern OH szn runs April-Dec

Awesome thanks! I forgot I could use AllTrails for ORV too. Use it for hikes all the time.
