I’ve got a couple thousand miles on mine at least, all over Baja dirt also…. Ironically the 125 weighs as much or more as some of our dirt bikes!
Weak link for me was one of the 90 degree tie down tabs bent up. I also reversed mine to work better with the spare on the back of the motor home so the reflectors are inward.

Heck yah. I was thinking about one of these since Mrs.Theecaptain has decided my beloved pickup truck doesn't fit "our" "aesthetic".

I got one off Jeff bezos for about the same price, I think the HF one is probably better actually. Works great for what it is.

I have a huge burden of a hitch carrier and have thought about welding a few bars across the bottom and using that.
I doubt the wire type mesh would hold long.
But this is almost too good of a deal to pass up.

My neighbor is a good welder, I'm going to have him beef up weak looking spots and add stronger tie down hooks. Now to just get through winter.
That will just expose the next weakest link imo…. I’d say run it the way it is. There was an issue with the steel aluminum interface but that has been addressed a few years ago.
Remember, it is poor quality harbor freight Chinese steel, welding on it would be a 50/50 to me as far as making it better.

I'm mainly improving the cheap thin stock tie down brackets, too flimsy from the factory.

Man I'd have to mount one of those rear view cameras to watch the weak points or stop every 30 minutes and I'd still be nervous  :ROFLMAO:

Bought a mototote for the CT on Black Friday. Currently in the dead of winter so have to wait for spring to test it on the back of the Land Cruiser

I almost bought one of those but the price scared me away. My carrier is ONLY for the little CT, and if I had a Mototote I would be tempted to put my other bikes on it with confidence.

I worry more about a strap coming loose than I do about the carrier breaking, and before someone tells me I'm strapping wrong I drove a custom critical freight truck off and on for 4 years so I've used straps before. And I always worry about them.
