If you can't wait or can't find a Trail, looks like RTX has you covered.

It's got a manual clutch, nice! Looks more Super Cub clone than Trail to me, but the small rear rack is better than none.
I spotted a Trail 70-ish bike that was street legal at a motorcycle night of a regular car show in IL yesterday. I think it was an Ice Bear Champion 125cc with some Honda Dax stickers on it, including ones that said 125cc.

in regards to the knock off dax, friend of mine had a trail 70 (just the frame was original) with one of the chinese 140 motors in in, and the rest was aftermarket or repop stuff, would do about 70 mph, was nuts for what it was. IMHO, 1300 bucks isnt that bad for something to play with, that has no historic value. one of those with a 190 in it would be a riot. I helped him sort out the cdi, was built pretty well over all.

These guys beat up a Chinese Hawk dirt bike. If it's real and not staged, it seems like it handled the beating pretty good.

In the next 10 or 25 years we might see some actual quality products hitting the market

There are plenty of Zongshen and Lifan motors with 30-70k miles on them. They're certainly thrifty and the designs are simple enough that they're relatively reliable, though it helps if you're knowledgable enough to work on them yourself and patient enough to be able to wait on replacement parts. Many mini motos never see that kind of mileage, so it's more than enough for most.

I was close to pulling the trigger on a clone but every website I visited had a sketchy feel about them. I was desperate but patience persevered.

I probably should've specified...Someday the North American market might come to regard Chinese Motorcycles highly like most all of Asia already does. For now however, a lot of it is junk. Having been all around SE Asia while in the Navy(U.S.) I met plenty of Chinese motorcycles that were still going strong after decades of abuse. It's staggering to look at how big their automotive and motorcycle market is.

I got to tour the Chinese destroyer Shenzhen while in Guam, so long ago now I forget what year. It was a pretty impressive ship...not the work of amateurs.

What is the part’s availability for these Chinese copies? We had a ct70 clone, the parts were “findable”…

Its the quality control and the quality of materials that sucks in those clones
yup. exactly. Being an engineer (in manufacturing), and also doing my time in qc, a lot of it, we never source anything thats a safety concern when they start saving money by slipping qc and material issues thru.. and it always happens. India castings are a close second to 'holy shit did they really send that?'

A small dax clone, its cheap enough to play with, for sure. and you can swap stuff around, so who cares. Kid that works for us bought a predator motor, which have a good reputation, for his small lake boat, made it 3 mos before the back 'crank bearing' gave out. we took it apart and the way they skimped it was pretty bad, when the replacement comes in, we are going to install the spare back plate i fly cut a seat for (on the bridgeport) an actual roller bearing in it to support the CRANKSHAFT so this doesn't happen again. its stuff like that simple design 'skimp' that makes me go 'nope' .

I've lived for a number of years in Paraguay and that country, and most of S. America, are literally clogged with Chinese Moto's. They are more brand names than most normal people can remember and about the biggest engines on them are 150's. Styling is all over the place but every family seems to have one and they can ride entire families along with the groceries. Lights and most protruding accessories end up not working or fallen off in a year or so of use. But the bikes themselves seem to last well and are easy to work on. Nearly every corner store has parts for them and the traffic is what I imagine Siagon must of looked like in the 60's and I know that Rome looks like today. Taking bets now that we'll be like that here in US in a few years lol. At least those of us here will be better equipped than those relying on these Chinese bikes !

I looked at those when I was waiting for the trail but the websites are super sketchy when it comes to shipping and delivery. I'm sure people get them successfully but I was skeptical. Glad I was.

Wouldn't have to worry about somebody stealing it while you leave sight of it ,is about the only upside I can see. I would much rather ride an ugly fat woman ,and people see me with her ,than be seen on that POS!

Isn't ABS required?
Picture above & WEB shows front disk brake & description shows front & rear drum brakes.
I don't think ABS is a requirement, at least not in the US. I know on the Grom ABS is an optional feature and you can buy a brand-new Yamaha TW200 which has no ABS.
