Small Bike Stuff (Callum from NZ) just released a YouTube video with a first hand account of the Honda Trail origin story told by Herb Uhl ("yule"), the dealer who first converted Honda Super Cubs into Honda Trail 50s out of his dealership in Boise, Idaho before American Honda Motor Co caught on and sent one to Japan to develop a production model. Herb Uhl is widely credited as the creator of the off-road ATV because of the Honda Trail 50. There are some great old photos in the video. He also shares his take on the new Honda Trail 125 and its gearing.

I didn't realize he was still alive and in Chehalis, WA. That's like 100 mi from where I live.

Me either, the video said he's in his 10th decade. What a life. I hope I'm out riding a Cub at 100 years old.
