Just a couple of random pics I have of it. The shift diagram was written and stuck to the dash by it's previous owner. Despite that I had to call him and ask how to get into Reverse after owning it for a few days! I'm torn as to whether I'm going to paint it or not. It lives outside and does (once) get pressed into service hauling stuff.

Forgive me if this isn't allowed here, but there are several videos about this truck on my YouTube Channel 'Kev's Garage' It's mostly ramblings about me talking about it and I think one video of me driving it where I talk about the column-shift trans and repeatedly grind going into First LOL!

Currently it's dead in my driveway waiting for a new fuel pump to arrive.
Body looks good. Hows the frame? If it is as solid as it appears in the photos I would do what is needed to arrest any corrosion that may be starting and then give her a good paint job. Once the danger of rusting away is addressed I would go through everything else. Cool little truck. Not many left, some of the better examples sale for a surprising amount of money.

The frame and body are good; two small rust spots in the corner of the cab but easily fixed by even a hack-welder such as me! From the little bit I know about this truck, it spent most of it's life as a ranch truck in Montana, which is cold, wet and snowy but not salty. Then it moved to Kansas for a few years before I bought it 1.5 years ago and had it shipped to me in So.Cal.

Thanks! Long-term, I don't know what my plans for the truck are. Currently it just runs me around town and goes to a weekly car gathering. I lusted after one for the past 20 years or so. It fill that role nicely and looks right at home in my city which is filled with historic places and homes.

Mazda CX30 Preferred spec. So Japanese.

I think I use most of the features the car comes with, but to be honest, it doesn't come with that many features and IMO the ones it does come with don't necessarily work that well. This one caught me by surprise.
Good choice. I have a family member who has one and really likes it. I'm sure they know nothing of the high-beam feature either!

I tend to use everything I have at my disposal in vehicles as well. My Tacoma has the 'off-road' package which I thought was a gimmick until I started looking into it. My favorite feature (other then the electric Locker in the rear axle) is the nav system shows forest roads. My buddy's TRD Sport and my other friends off-road Ranger don't have that feature. Oh and the breadcrumb feature which shows you where you've been. That has come in handy a couple of times when I've gotten turned around on unfamiliar trails.

I bet someone here would say save that patina. Earned and well deserved.
It's funny, most guys who see it all the same thing. Maybe sand it then clear it. Most women ask when I'm going to paint it

*if* I ever paint it, I'm going to match it (red/white) with my Camp Trailer which is the same age. Not that I think this Datsun will ever pull said Camp Trailer but it might be fun at shows to park them together if they matched.

Subaru stuff is nuts, in general. $1500-1800 for a windshield? Not looking forward to that.

You're going to need at least one. Seems like two is more the norm.

I got lucky and was able to have a chip repaired on our 22 OBW and its held thus far (knocks wood).

Back on topic: I ordered a used OE tail light from an ebay seller for $350. It arrives tomorrow.

Now I'm wondering what sort of tail light protection I should install when I swap the busted one for the "new/used" item.

I'll post a pic of the busted one sometime soon.

@BaldRider good video on the weight loss, BTW

you can't really tell that its bashed up into 27 pieces and glued back together while its lit up...you can see that it doesn't really "fit" in the housing anymore (gaps left & bottom in the photo) and I hope that isn't a sign that I need to ALSO replace the housing.

I haven't had time to remove the rear rack to replace i with

It looks good!

Two nights ago I got around to installing this guard on my Trail for the rear tailight. The directions were complete crap but once I tossed them the install went pretty easy. It sort of matches the guard I added to the headlight a couple of months ago.

The only mod I made to it was to remove the mount for the rear reflector; I felt like it blocked the plate too much.

I got the G-Craft rear bumper and will install it when I replace the LED 'module'

Seeing the price of this taillight makes drug dealers feel ashamed. Human kidnappers have to change careers to steal CT125 taillights.
We'd better delete this thread immediately, otherwise the streets will be full of taillight thieves
