I read on here previously that folks had their toolboxes pop open while riding Knowing this, the first thing I did was take my tools out of it and left it empty.

Today, as I'm doing a little "modification" work on the bike that included a bit of drilling, I noticed my box was hanging open. So word to the wise, figure out a better latching mechanism or don't use it unless you want to lose what's in it.

Hi TrailBoss!
I got my trail last week, and today went on a buddies ranch to go test it out off-road... it was a blast!!!

however of course I lost my toolkit, do you mind taking a photo of yours so I could maybe attempt to recreate it?

Yeah the stock toolbox does not have a very secure closing mechanism. I feel a cheap fix is to safety wire it. What I ended up doing was using a reusable zip tie that can easily be taken on and off.

Bblaylock, the stock tool box had the following for me:
1x screw driver. It's the kind where the handle and shank separate to take up less room.
1x fuse pulling tweezers, plastic.
1x helmet lock loop.

I ended up taking the helmet lock loop and leaving it permanently under the seat. I seems unlikely to come off under there. Here is a picture of me shoving the stock tools and a wrench set in the box:

Do any of your allens not quite fit the toolbox bolt? Mine turns it but wondering ig the assembling dealer customized it a bit?

I too leave the helmet loop on the under seat hook, I still cant figure out the trick to hooking it on and off.

Yes I have this problem as well. You have to push the allen key deeper in than you would suspect as well to get enough leverage to open/close it all the way.

Yeah I am annoyed that the bike varies from the Japanese market model. I now wonder what other tiny differences there are.

A buddy gave me a Touratech toolbox from his GSA because it didn’t work with his new pannier set up.

Just holding it up and eyeballing it against the stock one on the trail, it looks to be an excellent fit!

I’ll have to make up some mounts, but it looks to be a pretty simple task.

Lots of Asian market knock-offs available for cheap...

Hello, this is my first post. Thanks to the information in this post I still have my tool kit. I bought my new Trail 125 two weeks ago and have driven 53 miles. I went to inspect the tool kit and the lid was closed but it open after I tried to turn the hex screw with my fingers. My tool kit locking hex screw was not completely turned. After close inspection I found the screw only turns 90 degrees, so I marked the screw with a white paint dot then turn it 90 degrees. I also added a bread twisty tie as a safety backup.

My used Trail did not come with either a Tool Kit nor a box (PO removed both in order to add some Farkle).

Some of us on the forum have opted to add a Yeti Pouch. I tossed a generic tool kit from Cycle Gear in mine, plus reg docs and still have room for more stuff.

I chose to be creative when fabbing a mount for mine...it gets a lot of comments LOL!
