MisterB, or anyone else, does the chain enclosure from the cub fit directly on to the trail? That would go a long way for extending chain life. Looking at the side by side pics, it sure looks close to a fit.

How’s that??That would go a long way for extending chain life.
Are you asking how does a chain case extend chain life? It's the same idea that the O-ring and X-Ring chains have (keeping shit of the rollers), but cases do it by stopping crud from ever touching the chain in the first place, while the rings stop them from penetrating the rollers. How’s that??
I ran into this as well. Eventually I realized that the humble milk crate really is a substantially impressive addition. I went with the MIlwaukee packout plate + milk crate, and then "improved" on it by adding an Apache 4800 case as well, giving me 4 options - nothing, crate, case, and a duffel with tie downs. Of those the one that gets the most use, by far, is the crate. There's a lot out there and most of them are cheaper than some of the other accessories I've bought. But now I can't imagine EVER getting rid of the crate. If it's rainy then what I put in the crate should be rainproof. I've always loved milk crates, they're perfect how a bucket is perfect.
I’ve been made fun of over the milk crate several times but it’s so utilitarian. I have a old thin rubber floor mat under mine.I ran into this as well. I added a rubber/silicone kitchen drying mat. Same general idea. I pull it off occasionally to see how things are going underneath it, still seems like it's doing great.I’ve been made fun of over the milk crate several times but it’s so utilitarian. I have a old thin rubber floor mat under mine.
I’m not sure but I think there was a ad years ago with a trapper or other outdoorsman with a raccoon in an old metal milk crate.
Anyone offer any help?
love your setup. Do you remember the name of the crate company? Thank you!I put this on mine. Found it on Amazon and used bungee cords to keep in place.
