MotoLord Long Seat

After using this seat for a couple months, I decided to cut the rear rack grab bar off hoping that it would soften up that spot under this long seat and to be completely honest, I'm disappointed in how little it changed anything...and now I have a cut-up OEM rack for nothing.

The problem that I'm realizing is that even with this Motolord seat, the hardness under the seat right where my tail bone is was NOT from metal bar anymore (since it's gone), but from the mold of the seat itself which is shaped AROUND the bar. The design basically leaves almost no padding in the area directly above the bar:

Since I've already chopped the grab bar off, this got me thinking about modifying the seat bucket mold as well. The only way to make this seat more comfortable now would be to cut out the part of the mold that is shaped around the garb bar and lower it (with fiberglass sheets?) while stuffing additional padding in there - Basically, increase the padding from 1/2" to 1.5 or 2"
This is the area I'm talking about:

While I know how to turn a wrench, I have nearly zero experience working with fiberglass and this kind of project, so the only thing holding me back is the prospect of completely ruining this seat and being out a couple hundred bucks and right back to square one with the oem seat. Any tips or ideas would be welcome!
I took my motolord long seat to have another inch of foam added...made a good difference.

Do they make one that doesn't extend as far, maybe 2" or 3" past the handle? Great idea but takes up too much of the rack for me.

i still have the mold if anyone wants the fiberglass bucket.
it took quite a long time, to fit, and re fit just to get the basic seat pan.
i did use the molded "stiff foam" from the moto lord seat, and used the blue gel insert... altho my sewing is not the best, the seat came out pretty good. i can ride all day, and no pain. im sure i can walk anyone thru the build , it was just a matter of taking the time to do it.

That looks like a useful size, good job. I will keep it in mind but my sewing skills are less than nill. (y)

yes thank you. some skills needed but you could take the pan to a shop for the covering...
I suppose it would cost a lot. Ive always done all my own work

I like the idea, hate the looks. And I like the grab handle when loading the bike up. Just my opinion. It looks like it’s being forced to fit.

humm, interesting. never thought about it looking forced on.
it snaps right down like the original but i have the OEM seat still if i ever sell it and a shorter rider wants it.
i think the nice thing about these little bikes are they are so adaptable for just about everyone, i bought a super cub for the wife and it really is
for small riders, not much you can really do on that one.

Greetings Everyone,
My CT arrives in a few weeks. I like the Motolord seat. Is it possible to raise the seat with some spacers just enough to clear the bar so we don’t need to cut it off?
Just a thought while I patiently wait.

You can add one of these (or a pool noodle) over the rack grab rail if you are still using the stock seat.
Interesting. I used a foam pipe insulator piece. It didn't help at all. In fact, it was on there when I banged my tailbone. That was yesterday and it's more sore today than when it happened. Seems like it's going to be sore for a while. What are the items shown in your picture being sold as? Are they widely available? Do you have any idea how they would compare to the pipe insulation in terms of the amount of padding and protection? Thanks!

Wow, that's cool. Is that a modification of the old seat or an entirely new seat that you've fabricated?

the seat was made from scratch, the bucket mold stated off with the gutted moto loard seat i had for the fiber glass plug, then re worked it from there using some of the padding from the moto loard, and a gel insert, extra foam , and non slip cover.
ive been very happy with it, its about 3" longer then the OEM but shorter then the moto loard.

I'm about 80 miles into my new HT125 here in Honolulu.

I ordered a foam handlebar cover almost immediately. I am 6'4" and basically sit on the bar. I am sharing my photos of what I did below. For $15, it serves as my temporary fix as I slowly and inevitably warm up to spending another $200+ for the motolord longseat build everyone is doing here. I do plan to remove the rack handle and move the collapsible milk crate back.

Does it look good? Yes! Does it make it more comfortable? Kind of. Does it constantly move around and require readjusting every other ride? Absolutely.

I also added a photo of my mobile phone holder I moved from the moped. Got it on Amazon, called Zidiyoruo ATV phone holder. Works great, solid construction.

p.s. I had some handlebar tape in the toolbox and realized it might look cool somewhere. No ideas yet. Thoughts?

What's pushing you back on the seat, the foot controls or the handlebars? Long legs, long arms, or both? If ergonomic changes can be made, such as to the handlebars, to make you comfortable in a more forward seated position, then a proper backrest might be an option to keep you from sliding back and hitting the bar.

It's long legs mostly, but both I guess. My hip almost cramps when I am all the way forward and go to shift up. I will likely sit pretty far back once the seat modifications are made.

Here's my patch:

Rustoleum 2X apple red is a close match if you cut the handle off.
I'll re-weld the handle onto the back of the rack (horizontal) to stick out over the tail light. Act like a little bumper.

Cut this mat into strips and stacked/glued them together.
Yeah on the old 90 the handle was on the back side of the rack I wonder why Honda moved it to the front 🤔

I'm going with the force braking FAR FAR outpaces the forces from acceleration on the lil bike. If you have a load strapped on there and don't want a smack in the back that is...
