Location
a ridge overlooking Lake Guntersville, AL.
Hard to beat my back yard as a starting point. North Alabama has some beautiful terrain including the deepest canyon east of the Grand Canyon. Picture below bikes is at one of the headwaters falls about 5 miles before it starts. They are higher than picture indicates with out a reference scale. Interesting SCUBA dive below them. Found a gold watch under the farthest fall. There is a fall 4 times higher up river. Also an interesting SCUBA dive but a bitch to hike a tank down too. Found a set of surveyor "rods" and now know what the reference to "so many rods" means. They are still there.

A couple of rugged days solo camping on the CT, exploring the Wadbillaga and Deua National Parkes here in Australia. Hectic hill climbs, wild water crossings, vacant campsites. Life is sweet. Love this little bike

Beautiful place for sure, but not nearly the deepest canyon east of the Grand Canyon. Their website says "one of the deepest canyons east of the Mississippi River." Both Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado and Palo Duro Canyon in Texas are about twice as deep.
