I have steadily been unimpressed by the brakes, or "stopping distance" on the little Trail 125. In my head a "minibike" should stop more quickly.
I have had plenty of machines during the past few decades to compare with; American, Euro, Italian, Japanese......and the braking performance on the Hunter Cub is underwhelming at best for me.
I'm pretty sure I know why Honda puts very "friendly" brakes on this model motorbike. But if you ride more spirited or have experience and other sportier motos you may want more stopping power.

I switched to some EBC HH grade pads a while back and "maybe" the stopping got a bit more aggressive....but not much.

Recently this Takegawa upgrade was featured on "New Products" on Webike, so I bought it, and today I installed it.....

And like the thread title states----for me: It is a MASSIVE improvement in stopping power compared to the stock equipment.
Like: "Stops hard enough to actually get you in trouble.....or more likely keep you outta trouble and outta the backseat of the car in front of you...."
I've not yet fully burnished in the new rotor and already the improvement is very obvious.

Install was easy. 20 minute, 3-4 tool job....IMO pretty affordable/good value as well. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat and do wholly recommend.
(edit: it is a 20 minute job if you follow the directions on the kit and add the supplied zip-ties to hold the brake hose instead of "ungluing" and moving the OEM hose grommets that work with the factory hose support bracket)
BEWARE: Allow some time to "re-train" the muscle memory in your right fingertips. Because with this bigger rotor it stops hard when you pull hard, and on the OEM brakes you pretty much ALWAYS have to pull hard...

1st pic is mine, actual installed. And yeah, It does look good!
Weird I didn't notice that Webike had a wrong image posted.
Being that the rotor appearance and part # have both changed I might trend towards optimism that a "known problem" has been discontinued, and remedied.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention @dmonkey
I'll continue to hard stop this kit and report back if I end up with a wavy disc.

i have sooo many questions :). we bought this one ---> https://beezdeals.com/product/seven-speed-larger-front-disc-brake-kit-honda-ct125/ just real curious can we install this without changing anything else ? the one we got is just the disc itself no screws or additional bracket... (seems like the additional bracket may be needed not sure why its wasnt including since it was about the same price...) if it is needed can that be obtained seperately ? btw the rims and tires look excellent. we had wanted to get the matching (color wise anyways) for the back but its not available for a long time now... also another improvement we really want is the left hand brake lever (where the clutch would be) that adds a cyclinder and allows you to control the rear brakes from the handlebars instead of just the pedal etc.. its a kit that is being considered. ( by gale speed ) thanks !!!

you def need the bracket. the kit lists it as coming with the bracket. did you get that EXACT one from THAT seller? You sure you didnt throw it out by accident?
thanks for the reply ! yes i just noticed now it does say that specifically in the parts description, but all they sent was the disc itself (this time i opened it all the way up to check) i guess ill have to contact beez and see if they will do anything about that. i sure hope they will but if not maybe i can get it from takegawa... id be willing to pay more if i had to. i just want to get it all done. ( after having that setback with the windshield not including the install hw either although that was more of my mistake i guess. ((shoulda realized it was 75 for a reason as the whole kit is 150+)) ) boy any mechanic (if i ever find one lol) is going to really hate me :) thats part of the reason i wanted to go all the way to GA and visit wayne because he specializes in honda etc.. its just that its so far away.

Definitely reach out to BeezDeals about it. Anton at BeezDeals is very responsive and tries to sort things out when there are issues with products or orders.

There's likely a mini moto community local to you that can recommend a local shop if you're interested in having a local shop install aftermarket parts and mods on the bike for you. Maybe try the "Tampa Grom Squad".

I too was under impressed with the front brakes, maybe I am too heavy for the little soft brakes:rolleyes:, anywho fixed that.
Received the big rotor kit from beez, dam tariffs sux, yesterday. So today I got to it. yep 20 min maybe a min or so less. Super simple. Loosened the rotor bolts, dropped the wheel out, replaced the bracket & rotor then reassembled. Longest part was cleaning the lock tight off the bolts and out of the hub, used blue LT on assembly.
Big test drive, not really big but Ya fun rip around town and on a few trails. WOW better be careful when grabbing a handful on the dirt.
Great upgrade to the brakes, highly recommended (y)

As part of the crowd that experienced the earlier Takegawa “big rotors”, these revised disks are very different from the ones that I received.
I’m very pleased that these later units are providing the wonderful experience that a quality big rotor can! I’m happy with my resolution, and it performs awesome as well. The only issue I have is that Takegawa’s response to me in regards to my issue with their earlier rotor was “it‘s within spec and it’s fine”. I was watching my fork shudder forward and back an inch or so at every brake application.
Again, really happy they provided a well-performing product in their second version! But I will still question their quality (and response to issues) going forward.
Full disclosure, I did get their adjustable side-stand. Figured they couldn’t F’ that up! 🤗 It was helpful when I lowered the suspension a bit on my yellow Trail for a short-of-inseam friend.
