Put in grom, pcx 150 injector tonight. Also removed snorkel, Knocked out screen, in spark arrester. reset computer by unhooking battery. It topped at 49-50. 51 if i tucked down. Pretty loaded up with engine guard, middle rack, headlight rack, and protector, saddle bags. At only 750 miles, and have not done a top end test before. YEAH, I know I should have. Since it seems like performance gain, I will ride it like this for a while. Let the computer learn what's going on. Perhaps check the valves to see if the are tight. Close to having to do that anyway. Before I call it a wasted money.

hard racing sells it. not nec for those mods, at all actually, but it will still work fine. it's a factory injector for a Honda pcx150 scooter. you can get it from Honda as well. usually in the 40-50 dollar range. I had one laying around I used for the 143, so there's that. ecm will still target 14.7 afr regardless of the injector used. just fyi

Put about 60 miles on it. Computer must be learning because it suddenly seemed to have more power low to mid range. Will continue to put miles on it, and see what it does. Seems to be at 52mph top end now.

I decatted, as well as decluttered exhaust pipe ,.removed snorkel. I might have lost top end speed ,have not put more than 10 miles on it so far. Unhooked/reset battery. Should I install the injector for the 150? or will it not help? Or put more miles on it before I get anxious? Thank you for your time.

the intake tube from the filter housing to the throttle body is the bigger restriction, really. not the filter itself. the larger injector is just used to keep the duty cycle down on the stock injector if you are repeatedly at high rpm and if you mod it enough to need more fuel at top end. you can run up to a 164bbk on a stock injector with supporting FI controller mods, an aftermarket exhaust and a chimera intake on a grom. i know, i've done it. and ran the duty cycle up into the high 80%'s.. not good but the afrs were good to go.

these things will typically pick up power the more miles you put on them, usually at the 3-500 mile mark depending how its used. then they are settled in, and will take 50 ish miles (minimally) for the stock fi controller to learn the new needs per most any mod in varying riding conditions. .02

Are you sure? No other filter media or foam/paper also
If I go off pavement I will add foam or paper and will replace snorkel. Southwest Va. Lots of paved roads not on maps. Remote, isolated, abandoned communities, etc. Many miles of scenic beauty, not much else.

After reading response from GEARHEAD in SC.I believe his knowledge of topic is near the upper end, as with his combined real life applications,I have decided to put back original filter. He replied that the intake tube from airbox was the major restriction to air flow. I do believe de-catting as well as opening the exhaust has helped. Not surer but I believe it now gets about a MILLION miles to the gallon? P.S. not his forum identity.

I ordered a low rpm cam last week, more of an 'rv' style (if you are familiar with car terminology). with an adjustable cam gear that arrived, Im not trying to get high rpm out of this thing, so, the TB was really good, but was really better up top. The 1st gen grom cam is pretty good as well, but im curious to try something a bit meatier in the midrange specifically. also, with the adjustable cam gear i can advance the cam if wanted which will help even more with low end.

I ordered them from Yuminashi. In the past i haven't had great luck w their stuff, but it seems they have really ramped up their quality game as of recently. -hopefully- this will work well. if not, i'll go back to the 1st gen grom cam i currently have in there as it seems to be really better than the ct cam just slightly.

I put back OEM filter, but I took the obviously less restrictive stainless one I bought and put Marvel Mystery oil on it as well as plastic around it without cleaning it ,and set it out to drain in position to be installed. If it doesn't compromise the gasket material put together with I believe it will be better as it can be re-used/cleaned ,and will let it breath better. If I was in a very dry place I might go OEM depending on how far I was going.,

Oil bath air filters usually work best by making the air turn over a reservoir pool. Still sounds better than running the stainless filter dry though, good luck. There are other aftermarket air filters that claim to flow better than OEM but still wouldn't be as open as the stainless one . Hurricane Racing Performance out of Thailand make a cotton gause one that can be cleaned and reused similar to a K&N.

This green one is Honda, red one is Hurricane

Finally got my takawa exhaust in. Easy install. Actually seems to be 3 mph slower. Guess it will take a bit for the computer to reset. Defiantly flows better. Pipe is a good bit bigger. Came witheverything you need to install everything you need to install. IMG_20220419_180418350.jpgIMG_20220419_183336358.jpgIMG_20220419_180828026.jpg
