Owner's Manual: A booklet that is included with the purchase of a new Honda Trail 125. The Owner's Manual may be located inside the black toolbox located on the left side of the bike below the rear carrier rack. A hex key for opening the tool box can be found clipped to the top of the fuel tank under the seat.
Service Manual: Manual that covers service, maintenance, and repair of the motorcycle. It is vehicle specific and will refer you to a Honda Common Service Manual for procedures and concepts that are not specific to the Honda Trail.
Parts Catalog: Contains parts diagrams and lists part numbers. Be aware that some part numbers may be superseded, meaning the part has changed since the production of the motorcycle and/or publishing of the parts catalog, and a new part number has replaced it. The parts catalog is also referred to as a parts fiche.

I always get confused with the exploded diagrams.

Would it be possible to get the General Manual that
the Service Manual refers to?

Updated with the 2023 Owner's manual which covers Canada and USA ;)
It is listed on Honda Motopub for New Zealand. https://www.hondamotopub.com/model/BWH/K2E234/

The 2023 Owner's Manual notes a few differences such as:
  • Volume for the 1st (E) segment of the fuel gauge flashing, it now flashes at approximately 0.29 US gal (1.1 L) while the 2021-2022 model was 0.26 US gal (1.0 L). Total fuel capacity remains unchanged.
  • Canada model has a 4-step rotary system where the gear can be changed from 4th to neutral directly when stopping (stopped?)
  • Emissions information adds reference to the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)
  • Maintenance Schedule
    • Engine Oil Filter was added while retaining the Engine Oil Strainer Screen and Engine Oil Centrifugal Filter
    • Drive Chain Slider is removed
    • Evaporative Emissions Control System is noted as being for USA
    • Spark Arrestor is noted as being USA only
  • A collar has been added beneath the screw to the Battery Lid
  • Adjusting the Rear Suspension section is added
  • Canada model has more spare fuses than USA model
  • Canada model has another Vehicle Emissions Control Information label on the right side of the swingarm
  • Canada information added for reporting safety defects
  • Ground clearance increased to 6.7 in (170 mm) from 6.5 in (165 nm)
  • Curb weight reduced to 256 lb (116 kg) from 258 lb (117 kg)
  • Engine compression ratio changed to 10.0:1 from 9.3:1
  • Bore x stroke changed to 1.97 x 2.48 in (50.0 x 63.1 mm) from 2.06 x 2.28 in (52.4 x 57.9 mm)
  • Overall length changed to 77.4 in (1,965 mm) from 77.2 in (1,960 mm)
  • Wheelbase changed to 49.6 in (1,260 mm) from 49.4 in (1,255 mm)
  • Standard spark plug changed to CPR7EA-9S (NGK)
  • Engine oil capacity numbers changed and account for oil filter
  • Rear sprocket is 38T, from 39T, resulting in a different primary / final drive ratio

"Rear sprocket is 38T, from 39T, resulting in a different primary / final drive ratio"

If the front sprocket remains the same, does this mean that the 2023 will have a slightly higher top end?

Folks in Japan have reported that the 2023 model (JA65) with the updated engine and gearing is slightly faster than the previous model (JA55). I think it will depend on what tune the bike gets for the North American market.

The updated Super Cub also shed ~2 lb while keeping the 4-speed, so that sounds like a good guess that it's from having a lighter engine.

What year and model CT did you buy that it came in yellow, is it an older model or customized?
In New Zealand we are spoilt for colour choice. You can have red, yellow, green and I think a charcoal grey. I got the last yellow one in the country. The wholesaler still has some 20 red ones left, obviously they are expecting most people want a red one. So mine is the 2023 JA65 with the higher compression. I've only ridden it three time so far commuting to work and it's so much fun to ride. I could do with a gear indicator as because the gear lever action is reversed to a normal bike I do occasionally shift the wrong way.

That's a great color! Congrats on the new bike.
Those appear to be Japanese market bikes based on the fender decals. I wonder if your NZ dealer is getting them from Abe Honda in Japan? They sell new CTs with custom paint jobs including that yellow color. AFAIK there are no official yellow body parts for the CT125 (yet). The OEM colors are Pearl Organic Green (GY-157P), Matte Armored Silver Metallic (NH-B89M), and Glowing Red (R-354).

The dealers get them from Blue Wing Honda who are the official importers. It did come with lots of documents in Thai so it’s probably from Thailand Honda factory.

Interesting. To clarify, all of the CT125s are manufactured in Thailand. They're just built to different specs depending on their destination market. The white stripe on the front fender, and a corresponding white triangle on the rear fender if it has that, are required for Moped Class 2 (50-125cc) vehicles in Japan which would suggest that's the market the bike was built for. Another possible Japan specific decal would be a "Motorcycle Recycling" sticker under the seat on the same panel as the hex/allen key above the fuel tank.

It's also interesting to note that the New Zealand market gets the rear pegs and heat protector for the rear rider standard, just as the Australia market got back in the day with the Gen 1 CT125. It is also a testament to the voters in New Zealand who don't let their government run amuck, unlike the Australians who voted in a government that banned the 2023 CT125 because it doesn't have rear ABS.
