Phone handle bar mount. What do you use?

We use RAM mounts on the Baja bikes. Should be fine for the CT, this is my favorite ball mount, haven't tried on the ct since I haven't needed the phone but have them on 4 other dirt bikes. I'm not sure if it is the same thread but takes up ZERO handlebar space!

Years ago I had issues with the RAM X-Grip where my phone kept hopping out of it when hitting large bumps. Since then I switched to using a Quad Lock, which requires you to either use their case (which is a decent case), or stick a universal mount on your phone. They have a vibration dampener which is supposed to help with the issue of motorcycle vibration causing issues with the optical image stabilization sensor in phones. Haven't had any issues with the mounting systems, but when they first introduced the wireless charger the USB cable they supplied that goes to the base of the mount had too long of a plug and too short of a receiver which resulted in water damage to the wireless charger from riding in heavy rain. They replaced it for free, even out of the warranty.

I've also heard good things about Rokform, but I've already got the Quad Lock and don't like the idea of the magnet, so have never tried it.

This series of RAM cradles are excellent. Much cheaper at about $16 than the X Mount and far more rugged and reliable

Having lost three iPhone cameras to the dreaded engine vibes I now use a cheap burner iPhone 6S with a busted camera purely for nav apps etc on the bars while my decent iPhone stays in a pocket. No need for a SIM card in the burner phone but can hotspot to the other if required

That looks like a much improved design compared to their old X-Grips, glad they've refined it. I do like RAM's ball mount system, I've used it for GPS, action camera, cup holder, etc.

Now to figure out where to mount it in the cockpit. I think Ill use the XL universal (sized on RAM"s website for my pixel 6 phone). Gotta figure out which point to mount it to.

I use the Ram quick grip. It's way faster to put a phone in / out of than the X-grip and holds it very securely. While rolling it's pretty smooth, but it shakes quite a bit when stopped (such is life in a single, especially a horizontal one).

I use a Ram clamp so I can eaily move the phone holder between bikes. There isn't a whole lot of space on the handlebars and I don't like how much the grips shake, so I would try to mount it to or near the handlebar clamp if you're going for a more permanent attachment.

So will those two items linked hold it snug enough so that the phone doesn't come lose or move around?
And on the handlebar clamp, is that the correct size? How do I know what ball size these things are, all 1"?

got my parts intoday. The damned phone mount doesnt include the ball on the back of it, even though its in the picture...

What a waste of time. Now I have to make another order if I can figure this out. itll be approaching $100 for the mount by the time im done.

To top it all off on a 250 mile ride yesterday i used so much oil i can't trust to do a long ride on it. Bike has 1498 miles and used from nearly the top of full to barely touching the dipstick.

Was it 250 miles of wide open throttle? How does the inner tip of the exhaust look, any oil there? If the motor is burning oil rather than leaking it then there may have been an issue with the engine break in, might need new piston rings and to have the cylinder wall rehoned. My CT125's motor will go through a little oil when it's run at wide open throttle for a long time, but not that much. I check the oil almost every time I refuel and have very rarely had to top it off, maybe once every thousand miles. Losing a little oil is typical of an air cooled motor, but not going through the dip stick in 250 miles.

Probably 10-15% of near WOT on roads that had lots of traffic behind me, but mostly low 40s. Ive not checked the pipe yet, but I cannot find a leak and no smoke appears either.
