I rode a few miles today and yeah the shifter was a pain to engage with a boot. I was heel shifting to make it work and will rotate the shifter like you suggested.nice. rotate the shifter up one notch.
Would you have a pic on how you flipped the mount? I'm 6'1" and can use all of the room that I can find.Nice find! I have flipped the handle bar mount and rotated the bars a little forward. This may help comfort depending on your height, reach. I also rotated the kick starter back one notch to give more room.

I took the rubber out of the footpegs too, it's a little more leg room and worth the effort.
How much did you pay for it?I haven't ridden in 25 years so this should be a fun bike to get started again.
