Maybe I should round up two or three for west coast guys, let them buy them here for MSRP and then drag them out there for a much smaller fee than what those ADM's are calling for haha.

You'd make some people very happy out here! After purchasing some parts form 'Beezdeals' and 'WeBike' someone would make a lot of money selling modifications/OEM parts out here If they could purchase and resell and allow the buyers to avoid these crazy shipping costs.

Yea we need a state side importer for aftermarket parts for sure. These markups and long ship times are ridiculous.

To get something shipped to my door from 1/2 way around the world in 4-5 days for $80 isn’t too bad in my book.

I buy off-road parts from Australia that get here in a week for less money than they can be bought for here in the US. Sorry, but the Thai parts suppliers are screwing us right now.

I don’t think dhl is free. Would seem like a pretty consensual “screwing” as you order the part and give them payment, doesn’t sound like you yourself get screwed if you don’t order things not needed for a play bike 😂😂😂😂

Are the off-road parts you speak of for a niche bike with maybe 5-700 in the us or something like a klr, Crf, or other bike sold in the thousands?
I won’t change your mind, you won’t change mine…. As posted above, don’t buy from them, fix the problem, or just get feisty on the inter webs!

Suerte!

Out here in CA these bikes are waiting list only. If you put your name on the list you'd be lucky to get one in the next year. Looking at ones available for the last six months most are on the east coast. When they do pop up here and you call about them there is ALWAYS a waiting list of five or more people on it. The only way to get one in a timely manner here in California is to offer more money. They all have and ADM (Additional Dealer Markup) added to the MSRP. You will have to pay well over $6K here in NorCal to get one. I've been on five different waiting lists for over six months and have never received a call. I had to show up in person and negotiate my way off their waiting list ($$$). That said, money well spent to not wait another year for one...Just consider yourselves lucky to even own one. Love, love, love my 'motor driven cycle' (DMV definition).
A year ago when I started looking for a Trail that was what I found as well, although my local Dealer did have one on their floor which they were willing to sell me for just over $6,300 if I recall. I ended-up buying a used one (800 miles and less then a year old) from a member on this site for $5K.

At the time I thought about buying one out of state and having it shipped, but the shipping costs ate-up any savings. In the end I feel happy I found the one I did, when I did.

I buy aftermarket parts for high a dollar niche vehicle that sold less than 3K units per year here in the states and still get them from the other side of the world in week for less money than the BS the Thai sellers are charging for cheap motorbike parts that they sell tens of thousands of domestically for pennies on the dollar in comparison. It is what it is, but considering the fact that Honda sells the bikes stateside they should also support the OEM aftermarket at a minimum. And yes, I am surprised that there aren't any resellers or distributors here state side for this stuff.

OEM parts can be ordered through most shops that carry Honda Powersports parts unless they're region specific. For aftermarket parts you can avoid Thai sellers by buying from Japan. Shipping in Thailand is expensive both domestically and internationally which might be part of what you're seeing.

The CT125 is a (relatively) low dollar niche motorcycle that still has very restricted sales numbers in the USA. Most dealerships don't even stock replacement tires for it. Inventory sitting on shelves costs money, items with a long turnover time are hard to justify stocking, especially with the current state of just-in-time supply chain issues.

I recommend planning orders best you can to bundle items if shipping cost is your concern. Could also use this forum to coordinate a group order with someone else in your local area to split the cost of shipping.

I just paid $4299. They advertise the selling price. Only add on was the required state sales tax. That price included license and registration fees and a free T-shirt. Small family shop.

Floyd's Cycle in Danville Ky.

Was refreshing not to go through the mega dealer phone transfer BS.

That's a great price, I've wanted one since they first hit the market, glad I held out, prices in the beginning were crazy.

So still a $3999 MSRP, that's good to see. I'd try and work them down on those freight and prep fees though.

That $300 freight is set by American Honda and listed on their website as the destination charge + freight surcharge.

From what you listed the Assembly/prep should be negotiable, many dealers don't charge that. I'd ask them to knock the whole $350 off, if they don't want to haggle it's just a matter of how much you really want the bike and if you'd honestly pass on it for that extra $350. If you don't pay it the dealer has an advantage that someone else might since it's a bike with wait lists at many dealers.

For tag and title look up the cost for a new motorcycle title and registration in your state & county. Those should be optional at the dealership, if you don't want to pay them to do it you would request the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin and handle all title and registration work yourself at the DMV. For this ask yourself how much it's worth to you to have them do it vs having you do it. I get most of my titles and registration done at a local currency exchange (not an option in every state) that charges less than dealers usually do, while avoiding waiting in line at the DMV.

This was how it was done for me, because I was purchasing from out of state and registering at my local DMV. It was a pretty painless process because my DMV equivalent is an extremely short and pleasant line, but that's definitely a YMMV moment.
