Rear Brake Pedal Adjustment Question

With nice weather today, I was able to take the bike out for a nice ride. I've come to the conclusion that the rear brake pedal travels a little too far down for my liking. I don't want to have to press so far down on the pedal to slow down and/or stop. I'd feel much safer if it felt a bit more responsive. I'd appreciate some guidance as to how to adjust the pedal to lessen the amount of travel in the pedal. Thanks in advance!

I think you might have a little air trapped in your system. Pop the bike on center stand, remove the side cover, put on gloves and tap the brake line with your finger a bit then remove the reservoir cap. Now gently push the brake pedal down gently a few times till it firms right up. The fluid shouldnt go too low but keep an eye out.

Thanks for this information. Much appreciated.

How firm should the rear pedal be? mine is pretty soft (I couldnt lock it up if I tried unless on soft ground)

Umm, it should definitely lock up. If it's that soft you need to have a stern talking to the dealer.

Yes, that's concerning. Even with stock tires on pavement, all you should need is a little bit of speed to intentionally lock the rear brake and skid the tire. Almost no speed at all to do the same on soft ground.

I should note this is not professional advice and should only be used to "tighten up" by removing the micro bubbles of oxygen in a well primed system. Sounds like you got air pockets in that thing because I have numerous unintentional but territorial skid marks in my hood from just the suggestion of using the brake pedal. That front brake abs though... That sci-fi stuff is alright in my book.
