Removing rack, air filter plug

I bought my trail last week and been riding it, and I have to sit all the way back on the seat. My tailbone hits the bar and my butt and back hurt because of this. This makes riding the Trail uncomfortable for me. I might have to buy the long seat for comfort. In that case I have to remove the rear rack and snorkel. Is this the plug I would need to close the snorkel end of the air box?

That plug doesn't make sense to me. If you plug the inlet, how is air supposed to get in? Is it just for washing the bike with it removed or something?

Would this air filter cover be better?

Diablo

I’m really liking the looks of this seat without the rack. Are these long seats really a Honda product or are they aftermarket?

i do liek the look of that a lot. I use my rack so its important to me i keep it, but that does look sharp,id probably go the same way if i didnt care about it.
.I might make the holes a bit bigger on the plug though. No, the seat is aftermarket but good quality stuff. that inlet int he second pic of the red bike looks pretty good too, actually.

I see now, yeah, that plug seems like a nice setup then as long as the holes are large enough. Simple solution and looks like it could have come that way IMO.

I reversed the handle bar clamp today and rolled the handle bars forward, this seemed to help my sitting position. The seat is still hard as concrete.

I went for the motolord double seat and can still feel that bar under it. Im contemplating taking a grinder and cutting it off the rack.

i am finding that I sit too far back and sometime hit the handle of the rack on my tailbone too. I think I will undo the handlebar bolts (4 of them) and move it forward a touch - that might help and involves no costs! I will let you know when I've tried it out

I have done that too. Today after I ride home I will loop off the handle, reinstall the motolord double seat and next week at work I will weld up the 2 holes left by the handle removal. I’ll post pics

Ok so I used my grinder and cut it off no issues. The handle is welded to the flat side of the rack. There is no hollow space under the handle so those plugs won’t work here. I’m gonna hit it with the rust inhibitor at work and possible get the whole rack either powder coated or rhino lined at some point. The double seat covers the handle as you see and it’s night and day when sitting on it now.
