i talked to the dealer yesterday. “The part is on order….” As you would expect, I a have a much higher sense of urgency about getting the bike than they seem to have about getting my money.

Given the time of year and inventory problems, I’d think they would want to move any units they can.

So, I emailed Honda and asked IF they would just ship the part to me...they said no. So, I called my original dealer and they said bring the bike in, we will examine it and order the part. they had no idea how long that would take. So, I re-emailed Honda and asked them to advise...because leaving my bike for some indeterminant time is never going to happen. Pending no intervention from Honda, I will ask for a Tow truck, both ways (because this is a safety recall)and for mitigation of lose of use. Yes, I can be a real A-hole. I'll post up as this slow train crash happens. It's time Moto riders and Moto dealer and Moto manufacturers reach an understanding.

Well, like I said in my post yesterday, my dealer got the part and installed it. I picked up the bike today. So I don‘t think it makes sense for them to expect you to have to leave the bike before they order the part or as a condition for ordering it.. It seems clear there are available substitutes available, or you could just have someone weld the part for you. It should be less than two weeks to get the part, but I wouldn’t leave the bike that Long unless I knew I wouldn’t be riding.

how many on here have had the pedal break? zero. wait till they have parts on hand then take it in. complaining about something the dealer has no control over is just going to make them not want to work w you. Or, take the lever off and bring it in and show them. bring a copy of the recall and a pic of the vin tag. that should be all they need to get the part ordered from honda . Ive been down this road, in the past, from both sides of the service counter.

I can tell you that dealerships will usually push the complainers aside to help the ones that are more easy to deal with.

In the recall, it specifies that there are no known accidents or injuries due to the issue. I don’t recall if it says whether there are any actual cases of it breaking.

'typically' if its a recall, an incident has happened somewhere. may not even be in the US, and it may have simply been in post release testing. . a TSB(technical service bulletin) usually means a failure -may- occur or an issue may come up. mfgs don't take recalls lightly.

There was at least one rider in Japan who had it break on them: https://www.instagram.com/p/CVB05oXB3nN/
Honda are lucky enough that this bike is still at extremely low production numbers and it's an inexpensive part, so the recall is chump change compared to something like the Takata airbag inflator recall.

Gearshift lever may break off.
Regards the failing gear levers, does anyone know the associated bike frame numbers in order to identify the affected bikes? I am in the UK and awaiting delivery of my CT125 so being an import not officially sanctioned by Honda I am curious to discover if my bike will be affected and I doubt that Honda UK will want to know. Looks like I will just have to dig out my welder if lever failure occurs.

The recall details lists the VIN range. Search Honda power sports recall.

I received my replacement shift pedal 3 days ago. The one on the bike shows no sign of any cracks. The new shift pedal was sent to me from the dealer in Maine where I bought the Little Red Donkey ; I call that really good service cause I am in Florida now !
