Finding Neutral

I completed my gear shifter recall today. I removed my skid plate crash bar assembly to speed up the process at the dealer. I found 4 more of those lovely push pins in the plastic cover for the mount of the 4 big crash guard bolts right under the steering. This just left the tech to loosen 2 foot peg bolts and the gear shifter bolt. They were done in about 20 minutes total.
I was apprehensive to even bother doing this recall, but curiosity got the better of me wanting to know what Honda actually did to fix this recall. I measured the thickness of my original shifter, approx 1cm, anticipating the new shifter may be thicker to resist bending. I also took a close up image of the aledged lack luster weld job on it.
After receiving my bike back I noticed the new shifter thickness was exactly the same. I then looked at the weld and it appeared slightly larger. So my guess is the slightly more robust weld is the solution Honda put into the new improved gear shifter and thats about it? Just wanted to share my findings. In retrospect I'm glad I went ahead and did it. I'm including images of my original weld and new weld for your viewing pleasure
