The stock seat is hard compared to my preferred Triumph Comfort Seat on my Tiger Explorer. I want some additional cushion.

What has everybody tried so far? I've been doing some looking, and some options I've found:

1. Regular sheepskin
2. Airhawk or China-Hawk (knock-off version) pad (11x11)
3. Other gel/foam pads from various eBay sellers that look like they'd fit
4. 1cm gel pad and DIY my own using the existing cover. I think 1cm would fit under there, perhaps some light sculpting would be necessary.

I'm leaning towards the #3 approach, something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/233477862494?hash=item365c5d745e:g:8F8AAOSwMDpeJONT

The problem is nothing is quite cheap enough to just throw darts at it, so I'm looking for some suggestions.

I picked up a mesh thing that someone of FB mentioned. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. Short of getting reworked by my seat guy, the Airhawk is working out ok.

I am a big advocate of taking stock seats (aka torture devices) and sending them to Bill Mayer Saddles to rework. I have sat on BMS seats for 19-20 hours a day without fidgeting once. They're magic! So as to avoid downtime, I bought one of the "Diablo" seats to hold me over while the stock seat gets worked on. Now, the Diablo is no BMS seat, but honestly I can sit on it for most of the day without much discomfort, and it's very cheap. So that seems to be another solution to consider.

How difficult was the install on the Diablo? Is that an external seat lock or just a helmet lock?

Consider getting the rack extension to create more seat room. Screws into the back threaded holes. Front holes still accessible with the small seat. Poor picture but hope it helps.

Special Parts Takegawa Air Flow Seat Cover part number 09-11-0099: https://japan.webike.net/products/22778901.html
Provides a little bit more cushion and airflow without adding much height. Secures with an outer perimeter elastic band and an adjustable velcro strap that fastens under the seat. Quick to remove in case of rain. As a mesh it does hold moisture so you don't want it getting soaked in the rain right before you plan to sit on it. Closing the seat on it pinches it a little where I am slightly concerned whether or not it will fray over time from that, but I know these are popular on a lot of bikes in Japan so hopefully they're reasonably durable. Going to take it off in the winter to cut down on the air flow cooling my bum, but in the winter I'm usually heavily geared up where I'm wearing whatever extra cushion I may need in the form of motorcycle pants and long johns.

Seat covers helps but after riding 2 hours today, real butt hurt...need a better seat...but affordable...BMS sounds like the ticket but the price is no go...Diablo maybe...

I tried an air hawk equivalent... it was awful, I kept sliding off the seat. There's just no structure to an air bladder.

I'm using a Skwoosh gel pad now (classic short, 14.25" x 11.75"). I slide around a little more on the seat than stock, but it does add some extra cushion. I haven't taken it on a long ride yet.
