Did my install today. On my bike, there is a very sizable (to me) lip here. The bearing inner sleeve snagged on that. It pops out pretty easily so I removed it, applied some sandpaper love, and popped it back on. Sandpaper wrapped around a screwdriver did the trick - just like the USB install, it took a few minutes to sand it down by hand, but the ability to get that nice tight fit was worth the manual labor work.

It's all back together again but something I noticed... @dmonkey got the G-Craft one, I got the Hard Racing one like @op46, and the G-Craft one sits further out than the Hard Racing one. On dmonkey's photo, the problematic lip is covered while on the Hard Racing install, it's visible. The only other major difference is the G-Craft bolts switch to a 5mm hex key, while the Hard Racing continues to use the 8mm hex socket.

Of people who have installed these, it would be interesting to know if they have better or worse customer satisfaction with either model, and whether they had to sand it down if they're using the G-Craft support. It looks like people looking for an easier install should generally lean in the G-Craft direction.

EDIT: people ask would I buy it again. Yes I would. See maintenance thread post for more information.

so are you guys saying some sits too far back and hits the lip?
That is exactly what happens with the Hard Racing one (hence why I photographed it from that angle). If you look at the second photo, you can see the lip just visible.

Yep. The spacer sizes are different between the brands. somewhere around that ridge is the right depth IMO. Not too far in and not too far out.

Thanks Tony (y)
South Of The Border - OK. It's all YOUR fault then ...

I just ordered one of these thing a ma jigs from Hard Racing ($59.95 + $10 s/h). (Less than WEBIKE.)
- Had to promise them folks that if it doesn't fit then it is my own darn fault since Hard Racing knows it fits good on a GROM but they ain't not so sure about the Trail 125.
(What's a GROM anyways? H'mm. Nice dwarf name that.)
I hope this is not $70.00 lost. (gulp - I'm just a poor auld dwarf! )

Wait!
Hold me ale ...
- where's me hammer?

It'll fit!

well considering the same exact shift shaft seal is used on this number of bikes, you can be sure the diameter at the shoulder is the same across all of them. In the grom forums, since like 2015, no one has ever complained that one didn't fit from what I remember. including the 2014 model.

if you dont like the way it fits, i'll buy it from you and put it on my wifes supercub.

I installed the HR model on my bike, some light sanding required, but otherwise, no mechanical skills required. It's worth the price, now the bike shifts like a Honda.

I installed the HR model and I needed to sand the bushing.
Used a white stone and the Dremel tool I but found sand
paper with 100 grit worked better.
I put a dab of blue Locktite on the bolts because my torque
wrench can't be set that low. I put cardboard on the ground
since I don't have a bike platform and had to lie down to
access the bottom bolts.

Update for my Hard Racing

Shift Shaft Support Bracket ALMOST Fit

On mine the included sleeve bushing had the previously mentioned internal dimension step up in it. The larger dimension was perfect but only went maybe 1/2 " in from the crankcase side of the assembly! I hade the required dimension on one side so I took it to Chuck at the Moto Stop in Daytona and he drilled it out to the larger dimension and it seams to fit well. I will update tomorrow when it is installed.
Thanks everyone for the great informative post. I also ordered one today

I found the small cylinder of sandpaper in the Dremel tool accessory kit barely able to fit inside but a few seconds at low speed corrected the problem by removing the excess material.
