Another follow up, the 244s preform insanely well on the trial. Night and day difference from the stock ones, I was riding on the same trail system. I could handle WAY better and took loose rock, large rocks, mud and anything the trail threw at me just fine. I was able to maintain steady speed and traction on hill climbs that gave me a trouble before. the 244s Really chang the bike into an off road go anywhere bike and makes for a comfortable and confident trail experience. And I was riding on some intense , rugged, treacherous, trails in Southern OH that I really had no bussiness being on. So for the more tame trails it will shred.

Has anyone tried using the 2.5 in front and rear? I ordered 2 the other day then saw on the tire thread reccomened is a 3 in the rear and 2.5 front. Curious how much of a difference that would make and what the impact would be for a large rear tire so I know if I should go with a 3 in the rear.
I am going with the SHINKO 241 s 2.75/17 front and rear when they get here. I put 244 s on front and rear, but went back to OEM tire on front. Too much roll resistance to be on paved roads. If they wear faster than 244 s,you probably will replace the rear twice as often. How many miles are you ACTUALLY gonna ride on pavement by the end of year? REVZILLA has em for about 45 bucks, plus ship free. If you are riding on pavement the 244 s have too much roll resistance for the 8 hp motor. I put a 143 cc big bore with cam in it 200 miles ago,and would only go back to the 244 s if I was not here in the mountains, riding paved back roads mostly. OEM tires will put you down when off road. Also you have to let some air out when you go where you lose traction off pavement whatever you put on them.

I am not a gambling person, but I would place a bet that if you are going 75 miles an hour for any length of time on that bike ,that it will not be the speed rating of the tire that kills you!

To follow up, I got the 2.5 Shinko 244s installed. They feel great on pavement I can still top out at about 55-56 just takes a bit longer to get there. Going off roading this week and will update again after, expecting huge increase in performance compared to stock tires on the same trails.
I believe that you are supposed to break in your tires for about a 100 miles before you start TESTING them. Gotta heat em up to remove releasing agents used in the manufacturing process. It makes
them slippery, until you do. Cold roads won't do the trick, pick a sunny day.

Any follow up on the 2.5" on front and rear? Im thinking of going with this soze over the 3" to save weight and rolling resistance. I would love to hear how they are holding up.

I’m enjoying them. Really good off road. Like you said less weight and roll resistance on road means I can still hit 55mph. Just takes bit longer to accelerate. I’ve only put a few hundred miles on them since I’m in OH and weather. I imagine they will wear a bit quicker then I’d like given I’ll be riding on road mostly. I don’t mind weren’t too pricey and I think the handling improvement on and off road his worth it. I think the 3in would be too much personally. In a perfect world though I would have 2 sets of wheels and tires and swap. One for road and one off road which would 3in. I can’t afford that

got 4,000 on stock rear. Dealer said factory stock was discontinued ? went with shinko 241 2.75 front and rear. popped a couple tubes learning how to install. much better on the grass not so much on the road.

For the factory tires they may have meant that they're on backorder rather than discontinued, dealers can still order them, the ETA for them arrive in the USA is just far out. Glad you were able to get them swapped out, did you try the zip tie method? It helps to avoid poking the tube with your tire spoons.
4k miles is a good run on the stock tires, expect to get less out of the Shinko SR241s since they're such a soft tire geared toward trials and trail riding.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll go with 244 in 2.5 front and rear when the time comes. I want to try to balance traction with roll resistance since we are planning such a long trip.

FWIW I pulled my rear OEM tire off at 5300 mi of hilly, heavy riding with 1/8" depth remaining on the tread, averaging 30-35 mph almost entirely (99%) on road. I was satisfied with the results and would happily run the stock tires again, but only on the road, they're so bad off road.
