If I go with a set of 3” Shinko 244s will I have any rubbing issues in the rear? I already plan on raising the front fender. Also, since these have a larger outer diameter will I need to change the stock sprockets? Thanks for the help!

No and no. I ride with the front fender in the stock position. Grabs a few rocks in the gravel but if I were to raise it I would just drill new holes. The front mud flap bolts rub a bit above 45mph.

The 244 in 3.0" rubbed in the front for me and didn't leave enough clearance for debris (rocks) in the rear wheel well with the suspension compressed, it also dropped the acceleration and top speed of the bike a noticeable amount. I replaced them with Shinko 241s for now and will revisit the options later, there are good trail tires (IRC FB3) made in 2.75" width, but hard to find in the USA while trials tires (SR241, Kenda K262, IRC TR-1) are easy to buy online.

DaBinChe covers the rubbing spots here:

Anybody catch exactly which tires Ang from Some Guy Rides videos ended up running? I want those, they're proven.

he was running the stock IRC tires until the day day of 3 flats, then a kind stranger gave him a set of Shinko 241's if i'm not mistaken.
Wasn't there some difference between a trials version and a non-trials version? The trials version is what his buddy was running and they were wearing down significantly faster or so I recall.

Yes, the trials tire (Shinko SR241) wore quicker. It's a softer tire and intended to have a larger contact patch when upright.

Someone gave Ang 244s:

And Johnny Pow ran 241s for a while that wore faster:

The tire options for this bike are so inexpensive that I'm not sweating their longevity, fuel savings and ease of DIY for the bike more than offset it. How they perform on the surfaces I ride on is most important. And I probably won't run them near bald like I often do on other bikes.

I feel like 244 dual sport in 2.75 would leave some margin while still having some added width, but I can’t find them online and wanted to know if they exist?

Not in the US market, and probably not elsewhere.

The Vee Rubber VRM-022 comes in 2.75-17 with a similar but more offroad aggressive tread, a few USA websites have them for sale.

Does anyone have these Vee rubber tires mounted? I bought the Kendas but may want to swap for these before the bike comes.

My 244 3.0’s seem to work fine except grabbing some gravel or cinders and rubbing inside the front fender. And an occasional rub on the mud flap bolts at 40+. So much of an issue that I haven’t done anything…

If you search CT125 VRM022 on YouTube you'll find some folks running them. "A Retired Okie Living in Thailand" has a few videos talking about the tires on there. IMO give the OEM tires a good try past the engine break-in period before you swap them out, that way you can at least run the bike up to top speed on pavement and have an idea of baseline performance of the bike before putting on knobbies that are going to slow it down a little.
