I just got back from a 5 mile ride on some sand roads in the Sandhills region of SC. It was easy sailing on the hard sand but fishy on the looser stuff. I assume either a Shinko 241 or 244 will help. I think the 13T front sprocket will help too. I am inexperienced noob on sand and off road.

Sand sucks. Better tires and the 13 tooth sprocket will help, but it still sucks.

I hit a place around Candor, NC many years ago on another bike that was terrible. Riding wide open on a trail and right into an area at the bottom of a hill where loose sand had washed down and built up to what seemed to be 2ft deep. Stopped me in my tracks, bottomed out, and caught hell for a few minutes getting outta there. I feel your pain...

2ft deep yikes! This was on a traveled road, maybe 3-4 inches drifted. I’m thinking knobbier tire and lower the air pressure.

Wait until you hit some mud!
My Kendas should be in this week.

Yeah buddy, mud will make you find some good tires pretty quick!

I don't do any serious mud here in the mountains of WNC or in the flat lands of SWFL. Mainly gravel and sand but not deep sand. So far the stock gearing and tires have been fine for me.

I think its a combination of my weight and the sand. I am going to wait a bit before I change the tires or the sprocket though.

The front GP-5 stock tire does wash out really easily offroad, that's not specifically your weight or the sand. I had the same issue on gravel, dirt, and grass. Also had the rear tire get squirrely slipping on those surfaces, but didn't end up stuck in anything.
I have the Shinko 241s and they addressed those issues, downside is a little bit of low speed choppiness on paved surfaces, a little more road noise, probably quicker wear on paved surfaces, and the rear does slip in the rain if you're really hooning the bike. All tires are a compromise though, gotta pick one you think will suit your riding and if it didn't then try another in a few thousand miles.
