My wife has expressed no interest on learning to ride a bicycle much less the CT125 I bought her when I got mine. Friend in Oklahoma wants one and has not been able to find any locally (as we all know). So we decided he could buy my spare with all the up grades with a lever action Rossi .357 thrown in to mount in side scabbard on it when he is riding in New Mexico mountains or where there are other vermin and where its allowed to carry as such.

So now Im looking at a replacement bike and have focused on the Honda CM500X ABV which seems to be as popular as the CT125. None to be had and all coming in are pre sold. I let my grand son have my DR650 (a mistake) and have been missing it ever since. It was a little tall for me though so I started looking for something to replace it that I at 73 and 220lbs can handle that will fit between the Harley and the CT125. Any thoughts? Looks like Honda may be bringing out at NX500 dual sport on same engine as CB500 in 2023? May wait on that and see and maybe availability of green CB500X will be better?

A friend of mine did his first Iron Butt Saddle Sore 1000 (1,000 miles in under 24 hours) on a CB500X. It's like a diet adventure bike, still best on roads (especially back roads), but more capable than many Scramblers off-road. If you're not up for the wait on a new release and the ergonomics and hefty weight of the CB500X work for you, it seems like a great bike.

As the Magpie Flies is currently doing some CB500X touring. Could check out the footage from there. Looks like a pretty nice bike and she humpty dumpty'd at least once so self rescue is an option.

This is just me, but... get your wife to find the bike she's interested in riding herself. "Because it's pretty" can matter a lot more than the functional elements of the bike and that's impossible to quantify. Start with the big 4 + Royal Enfield and go from there in my opinion. Or even more generically, ask her what color she likes and go from there. Just... orange bikes are expensive lol.

Now looking and the Honda CB300R. Some what more available and a thumper albeit water cooled. Derived from rock solid 250 endero/dirt engine. Much lighter than the CB500X and will do 70 mph if needed. Im a country road and dirt trail/fire road guy so it may be what I need to handle the faster than 55mph roads I sometimes have to ride to get to some of the better areas. Going on the CT125 is a little sporty when you look in your mirrors and see a car/truck coming up your butt at 70+ with the driver looking down at their cell phone.....
