Starts in gear

I'm very happy with my new 125. I've logged about 550 miles on her. I noticed if I kill the motor with the kill switch while still in gear, the bike will start without being in neutral. Is that normal? Anyone else have this issue? My only other bike is a 1983 Passport, it won't start in gear.

Totally normal as far as I know. Same behavior on most clutchless ATVs that I've ridden. Does that Passport have a clutch?

its fine as long as it doesn't start with the sidestand down.

It won't start with the side stand down and in gear. Passport's semi-auto , no manual clutch. Thanks for the quick responses.
