A dude in India said he averages about 6,500 miles on a Michelin City Pro rear, longer on the front. Plus the touted puncture resistance is impressive.

Im using mine in a similar fashion.. as far as street use ,the tires that are on aren't bad. I almost hate to say. I have to say, my cb1100 bt54s were awful and lasted a very short time on the bike, but avons cured it. On the CT though, as light as they are knobs 'aren't' bad option. I ran a TS185 on some 'golden boy' trial tires i think , they were -fantastic- on the street and in the rain. i mean they just stuck way better than i thought they would. and, if you are going to ride in the rain, a good option for sure. But id run as close to stock sized tires as possible. These are in my saved watched items. https://www.ebay.com/itm/272214295252

I've tried to look up the Avon Spirits, but cannot locate it in 80/90/17.
oh, sorry. I was referring to Dmonkey's Ducati Scrambler. He was talking about having terrible rain performance from the Pirelli Angel GT he puts on there, and I suggested the Avon Spirit. It definitely does not come in 80/90-17. Avon has a tire called Streetrunner that does come in a similar size though. I'm extremely interested in getting them if i decide to stick to the street, or at the very least, getting them for my Wife's Supercub.

that's interesting....i didn't know you could still buy Golden Boy tires. I hadn't seen them on any of the tire outlets while shopping. You think these would do better on road than a Shinko 244 for example?

the size is perfect....2.75-17. no monkeying around with off sizes. the profile looks good too. i especially like how the knobs taper off on the side, probably helps with corners. the big question is mileage i guess.

I have no experience with the 244s so can't speak to that. I do have the golden boys on the 67 kawi and again, great but not a high mileage bike. but the ts had 3 years before I sold it and the tires were just fine. me? I'd take lower mileage to increase grip any day. tires are cheap.

I guess I'm off, I have Golden Boy SR-244 3.0's. I thought they were Shinko's, probably whatever the mold guys do in the same factory???

Those look awesome. Knobbies look excellent on this bike. I really want knobbies, but since I'm mostly hardtop at the moment I think I'd just wear them out tread wise prematurely.

'golden boy' is actually an old 'irc'/ cheng-shin mold. Shinko buys old molds and dies from tire companies and uses those for a lot of its patterns. just fyi.

Welcome to 2022!

A quick question: The front and rear stock tires are the same size. My original thought is to swap the tires front to rear, etc. to prolong life out of them.
I have noticed the tread is the same but the tires state “front” and “rear” on the tire size wall (next to rotational direction).

Any thoughts on rotating them front to rear and any issues with doing this?

if course, the correct tread rotation based on the location.

Same tire, just mount in the appropriate direction. Considering the effort required, I would just throw on a new rear one whenever it needs it. On our Dirt bikes where I can’t switch the front and rear I usually go through 2 to 3 Rears for every front…

Planning on a “longer” trip - FL portion of the SEAT. The rear tire will maybe make it but it has enough tread on it to work well on the front. Another tire won’t get here in time so planning on swapping them today.

I'm at about 3k on the back tire and thinking of doing the same as your post. Did you ever swap them and if so, how did it ride and are you still using it today?

Yes, I swapped them. Like others told me, just notice the rotation of the tire when you swap.

Just did a 4 day 1k+ mile trip on them and it is still working great. I’ll have to replace the front (originally the rear) soon but did it later then I will next time.

Thanks Bombadier36! I think I will do the same
