The first question you get asked

Why is it the first question that always gets asked when you're telling someone about your CT 125 Trail (or showing them a picture) is "How fast does it go?" It's weird that that is where most people's minds go. They kinda seem to be missing the point. These aren't Hyabusas or interstate cruisers. I don't think many people bought their trails because of their top speed. I know versatility, practicability, & fun factor were some of my reasons I went down the LRD rabbit hole. I'm just wondering what the proper response is to that question that relays the real benefits of this machine. Just thought it's a little weird. I've talked to many people about my Harley before and don't recall anyone ever asking it's top speed, I guess small displacement people just wanna know.

Actually, in the nearly two years I've had my LRD that question hasn't come up too often. I've gotten questions about mileage or how much it cost much more frequently. Based on the size and style of the bike I don't think anyone expects it to set any speed records and tell them I haven't got any speeding tickets on it yet.

i get asked that on almost anybike i have under 500cc. also: is that a motorcycle or scooter, what year is it, and maybe 2x, mileage.

How fast does it go and what engine displacement seem like the typical questions people use to get a measure on how practical it would be for THEM to own. I especially enjoy the responses to engine displacement "I'd need more than that, at least 250cc". Like, how would someone know without riding it? I've ridden 250cc bikes that were absolute dogs and slower than the Trail 125, though mostly much older ones.

I get that one a lot too. Although I get asked that even more when I'm riding my 2007 Ural Retro that resembles a 1939 BMW those pesky Ruskies copied it from.

That's a sweet Ural. My 05 Gear up usually has dirt on her....when I ride it the first question I get asked is how did I get it and did I restore it

• If it's the new model
• What year it is
• What mpg I get (usually at a fuel station)
• How fast it will go
• Did they get rid of the high low gear
• Will I sell it to them?

Almost always one of those questions.
