Just used Spydie's EXCELLENT video to adjust my valves. It seems the more I read, the more folks are finding there exhaust valves a wee bit tight. Intake was dead on, and exhaust was .006.

I guess im just wondering why is .006, instead of .007. I get that it meets spec.

Getting close to 4,000 miles on my Little Red Donkey so decided to adjust the valves for the first time. Watched several helpful videos on this forum and on You Tube to prepare. As others have experienced, intake was spot on, and exhaust was .006. Although still within specs, a quick adjustment to get it to .007 was a simple and assuring task. Went ahead and did the 30 second adjustment to the clutch while I was working in the vicinity and I'm back on the trail/road.Scott.jpg

Interesting, there is a difference between the two models. The .006 is out of spec on the 23. I haven’t done mine yet, but I did buy the cool little valve adjustment tool! I only have about 1500 on it so far. I’ll probably change the oil and check valves and clutch at 2000 and get it ready for a new season of hard riding. 😎

Which tool did you settle on, and did you just randomly pick something or did you have a specific reason for the one you picked? I plan to buy one as well, fairly soon.

2023 Trail125 Service Manual English, Paper, 61K2E50

These are the tool part numbers Honda list for the valve tappet adjustment wrenches:
Lock nut wrench, 8 x 9mm : 07708-0030100
Valve adjusting wrench: 07708-0030400 or 07908-KE90200

You can find alternative ones that can be cheaper and easier to work with. Just make sure they're for a 9mm lock nut and a 3mm square tappet screw.

I was aware of the helm people... but it's crazy what they want for shipping. I may look at one of the other alternatives.
