I cannot find a Trail 125 in California. Not one dealer has one and won't even put me on a wait list. The few used ones out there for sale are going for $6k and above. Is this the case everywhere in the US?

Both of those entries were "for sale" when I was looking for my bike. They're over 6 months old.

If it was anywhere other than California or more specifically anywhere not dealing with CA DMV, I'd tell you to keep an eye on Arizona and Nevada as well. I saw a few pop up there.

A lot of the on-line search sites will lead you to dealers which claim they have one in-stock but when you press them on it you'll find that most of the time, they don't.

When I was searching for a Trail I looked for ad's which listed a VIN or a unit number. I found the big-box, multi-brand Powersports dealers were the worst when it came to getting accurate pricing or inventory information. That said I did find a new Trail at a Honda Dealer five minutes from my house (last May) but they wanted $6,300 for it and wouldn't budge.

Bringing a bike in from out-of-state can be more complicated (see my thread 'Fun with the CA DMV' elsewhere on this forum) however I would do it again if I needed to. My Trail came to me from New Jersey and was a nightmare (and $$) to get legally registered in CA however 90% of that struggle was because the previous owner had lost the Title and the registration was expired. If he'd had the original Title and current tags I probably could have registered it with one visit to the Auto Club. For comparison last Spring I bought a classic truck in Kansas and had it shipped to me. It was registered in Kansas but had current tags and a valid Title. I had CA registration and plates on it the same afternoon it got dropped-off at my house.

That's quite the extensive list. Didn't know about most of them.

Call Honda Powersports Motorcycle in Torrance CA
(866) 784-1870
Customer Service has a list of what dealer has or is getting inventory.

I found out that there was a lot of dealers in my area that I did not know
about and kept a list. I contacted every one of them every week.
That is how I found some trails for sale.
