Since that pulls from listings on dealership websites, I wouldn't trust it to be accurate of what's in stock.
This is exactly what it's doing, and I confirmed this with the dealership that it's hooked into the new inventory, but there's no way of telling if the bike is for someone on a waitlist or not. I always confirm on the dealer page if it's available; some of the better websites do make sure to go through and delete the listing so they won't get unnecessary phone calls.

To put it bluntly, every day in the morning and evening I load up the page and see if there's any new listings. I've been searching anywhere within 1200 mi of where I live. In 146 days of checking, I've seen a few things. During the recent LA port closure, the "youngest" listing was 140+ days old. Since I started looking there has been zero bikes listed in Washington, Oregon, Idaho or Montana, 7 in California (all spoken for), 2 in Las Vegas (both spoken for but I added myself to the deposit list in Las Vegas).

Outside of that but enough to make me think hard about it has been a few in Wyoming and 1 in Phoenix, Arizona. As an Aussie, it took a moment of googling to realize that LA is not Los Angeles, which is always an excitement-then-disappointment moment. Lately there hasn't been anything in California so either they're wisening up to not listing their stock, or there's literally no bikes going to California. What does comes from that is that I notice certain places: I can tell you that there's a lot of bikes popping up in Kansas, Missouri and Louisiana based on the motohunt website.

If I was the bearer of bad news, sorry but not sorry, just as someone using Motohunt I sure as hell hope you have better luck than I have. To be perfectly blunt for how hard I've been searching, I'll just say that I've been looking into this hard enough to know that it was $300 cheaper to rent a u-haul and drop it off just inside the CA border as opposed to just over the border in Oregon, even if the driving leg was substantially shorter.

Has anyone heard anything about a recall on the CT125 Trail or Hunter Cub? The shop I am buying the Trail from just called me to say Honda told them there is a recall and they don’t want to sell me the bike until they get it resolved - and they don’t know when that will be.

When I go to the Honda Powersports page, I don’t see a recall on the CT125. I did find one for the SuperCub and other models for the rear reflector, but that dates back to May and covers most models.

Edit: I assume it is this, but I am not sure: https://www.recalls.govt.nz/recalls/honda-ct125/

This is the one I know of.

Summary: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Super Cub C125, CB500X, CB650R, CBR300R, CBR500R, CBR650R, Rebel 300, Rebel 500, Monkey, 2020 CRF250L, GROM, 2021 CRF300L, and CB500F motorcycles. The rear reflector lens may not reflect brightly enough. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

Shouldn't affect new stock though.

There's a recall for the gear change pedal on some in Japan, but nothing for the US yet. Ask the shop what recall and see if they know more than we do :)

Yeah, I talked to them and they said they won’t have the details until Friday and will let me know then what the issue is and how long it will take to fix. It seems a bit odd to me that they won’t sell me the bike with a recall out, unless there is a safety issues or something. My biggest concern is really that if they need to ship parts out it could take months to get them. I guess hopefully they just need to reinforce the weld on the pedal boss or something like that.

The link I added to my previous post that was issues last Friday in NZ looks like the same one as the Japan issue, so I assume that is what it is Here as well. I don’t see anything on Honda’s US recall page or on the NHTSA recall page, so I assume it’s just come out.

That is kind of why I am annoyed. I was planning to pick the bike up Friday. If that is all it is, they could easily do the repair this week. It’s tough for me to take days off during the week, and Saturdays are usually booked. The trip to RMV isn’t going to be fun either, as MA gov’t offices are still largely in lockdown mode, and AAA doesn’t process titles and transfers.

I think it's very unlikely that the shop would fix the issue with a welder. That would make them liable for it. Instead they'll wait until they can get the replacement part from Honda, swap it out, and then be in the clear to sell the bike.

That makes sense. From the description I assumed it was a frame-mounted weld-point. If it is a part, then I’d agree they will want to wait until they can replace the part.

I understand that, and no, they would def have to change the part to get credit for it..However, I wouldn't trust the dealership to change a light bulb though, and im 99% sure there's no legal reason to sell it with an outstanding recall as long as you are made aware of it and sign off on it. (well, some states or dealerships). But this may have changed over time.

Its just the weld from the splined clamp to the shifter arm.

Agreed. I had a VW that needed recall service pretty much every time I took it in for service from the very first visit, and I think it had 2 when I bought it - but it was going to be months for the part to come in. I am a bit suspicious, but there isn’t much I can do about it right now aside from asking them to refund my deposit, which doesn’t do anything for me. Maybe they want credit for the recall work, but I can’t imagine it is that much.

I need to get this bike in my garage so my wife can have things to buy for Christmas. 😉

They said they don’t know what the recall is yet, but yes, if it is a simple matter of replacing a part that is available or can be subbed, hopefully it can be resolved quickly.

I got the call last week that mine was in. Went Saturday to pick it up and they told they could not sell it because Honda had put a “stop sell” on it due to a bad lever but they didn’t even know which lever.

It is sheer speculation at this point, but the dealer called me today and confirmed the stop sell on all CT125’s and said that they have a call with Honda on Friday to discuss. They said (this is speculation) that they think parts could be months away and offered to refund my deposit (again.)

At this point, I figure I may as well hang on since the deposit is for a specific bike and this issue will affect all new sales until they change the parts out on the factory line.
