Working out sucks

I just started a workout routine for my upcoming trip, to be honest I've not worked out since retirement in 2021 and then I saw it as a job requirement, now at 59 and lazy af I gotta say it sucks, I don't enjoy it and I don't want to do it anymore, that being said I have to do it, no choice really if I want to enjoy myself in June. But I'm going to bitch the whole time I promise you. We'll as my DS said I don't have to like it I just have to do it. Which coincidentally sounds like a conversation I once had with my 2nd wife.

Discipline/motivation gets you going, and habit keeps you at it. Soon your morning workout will feel like rolling out of bed, too bad it takes a while to get there.

"I had to find the joy before I found the habit."

I think this is the real thing for me. I'm waiting for it to start getting slightly warmer before getting back into bicycling more; I have a very specific weather limit in mind based on years of past experience, a proverbial cliff where exceeding that weather bar will mean substantially decreasing my difficulty and improving recovery. In the meantime I'm mostly working on calisthenics since they help me with being "lazy" and moving the CT125 around (I pick up the rear of the bike off the ground and move it around pretty much every time I ride it, because of where I park it)

I agree, for me I've had jobs that mostly require movement, and for the dept of corrections I felt that it was a job requirement to be able to take people down, a last resort btw, I came to that job from construction which had me working with ex cons so I was familiar with the mindset you could say, I found if I talked to them like we were on a jobsite instead of a prison it kept me out of a lot of confrontations.but I digress, after retirement due to a knee issue my muscle quickly turned to sofa fat. I will fix it though now that I have something to focus on. I need this trip for that if nothing else.
